the second gacha game was Asian Kojima's wild ride but masquerating as something more generic and blue archiveesque, where the focus was entirely on the girls rather than a girl with a gimmick as is the case in Kancolle or Umamusume. Even worse, the gameplay started to imitate more modern gacha games, making it way more grindy, and more disconnected from the Tom Clancy's gun girls theme that the original sort of had; making it even harder for the gunautists to stick around, even though the game could theoretically provide for an X-Comlike experience
While Asian Kojima's wild ride is getting even wilder and more entertaining as time goes on, there are better stories in actual games, books, anime etc. and without the original draw still there is hard to get invested.
Unless people specifically care about being able to see their raifu's feet in pantyhose in 3D, a lot of EN gunautist purists from GF1 have sort of sloughed away.
Personally, I'm still playing to see how the story progresses; this is even though they gave my wife a STUPID fucking name and I have trouble keeping track of all the resources that I need to juggle, partially because I'm getting old and senile but also because they have like twice the amount of things that the last game had, and all of them are named nonsensical things like "Core fragments" and "Saris Gold" instead of things like "Ammo" and "Spare Parts"
