Graphics programmers are too focused on abstract technical progress, that's why we're wasting so much on ray-tracing instead of using technologically economical solutions.

i'd take 2008-2010 graphics if it meant other things like map size, reactivity, choices, endings, gameplay, more complex systems, characters etc were improved instead. Imagine playing an RPG with decent/good graphics that don't require a 5080 and there's more to picking your race than "green man, lizard man or man man". Kinda like picking a low INT character in the early Fallout games but dialed up to 11.

Works on my machine, just remove the physx files that the game comes with so it forces it to use your card's, as the old ones cause crashes on newer cards

The reason Mirrorโ€™s Edge graphics worked is because basically nothing was interactive. They added all those PhysX doodads on the PC version and none of it is lit properly or shadow-casting because everything was baked.

Your $5,000 computer needs framegen + DLSS to barely match your monitor's refresh rate on the latest UE5 slop.

You are arguing against your own self interests for meme points.
You will be punished accordingly.

Poor fren, I use my computer to run an llm that other people pay me to interact with due to loneliness.
My seven thousand dollar computer paid for itself in 3 weeks and this was in February.
You are unironically poor and will do anything to deflect from your poor life choices which limit what you can enjoy.

You can bake 90% of your scene, use dynamic shadows for all actors and physics objects as well as light probes. Cubemap for reflections and you're done.
300 fps on a mediocre gpu while your AAA sloppa with full on GI, lumen and gaytracing runs barely at 60fps on a 4090 while 2/3rd of the effects are running at quarter resolution.

Sorry OP, its been proven by Nvidia that you can't do lighting like this anymore and you need to buy a 1500$ 5080 for games to look good.
