Post the best games from the good ol' days
That year will be the coldest year from then on for at least 1000 years.
Unironically somewhat true. I remember how sunny days used to feel back then, but it wasnt scorching either.
To be fair that year was literally in early highschool for me, so it might just be teenage brain with little experience viewing the world in an embellished way
>>715753164You can look up the stats
It was better
>>715752985 (OP)Remember when the Sun was a warm yellow-white glow instead of a screaming bright white LED in the sky?
>>715753164>2016>early highschool
>>715753164I genuinely remember how much orange hue sunlight had especially up to about 2005-2006
it vanished after, I talk to people who were kids AND adults back then and most of them confirm this...idk what's to make of it, maybe I'm just emotionally sensitive to low sun rays idk
sunlight now seems...sterile...like a white tint
>>715753321was literally typing it out as you posted it, more of an orange white imo
>>715753360Now that I think of it, might have honestly been my first year of highschool not just early highschool. I think the reason Im confused about it, must be because I went to summer highschool before highschool, but I dont know if that was in 2015.
Anyway, all I know is that that was the year Pokemon Go was a crazy phenomenon, and I couldnt participate in it because I couldnt participate in it let alone have the data to be connected to pokemon go constantly outside.

>>715753481I miss when night time was yellow so fucking much.
>>715753164>>715753481literal rose tinted metaphorical glasses
>>715753149Oh well. Ice caps on mars are shrinking too so no matter what we'd the sun has the final say regardless.
But we could always kill polluters.
>>715752985 (OP)2016 was the year my life went to shit
>>715753481I too remember the warm color tone sun, much more pleasing than the cool one. I think the ozone got worse, and I blame China/India.
>>715753696This. The days were less hot, for sure, but pretending the light changed color? It's the damn same. You are just becoming deluded.
>>715753606Isn't not even just for looks. LED light has melatonin suppressing blue light in it, and the beam is more narrow/blinding.
>>715753606Sometimes I go to my window at night and use my hand in front of my face to block out the night sky, only focusing on the driveway that's illuminated by LED streetlights, and it quite literally looks the same as if it were noon. It blows my mind how anyone thought this was a good idea.

2016 was one of the worst years in gaming
>>715753814probably...could also be the smartphone screens doing long term damage forcing our eyes to readjust and thus fucking up our perception of sunlight
>>715752985 (OP)>zoomgroids are nostalgic for 2016grim
>>715753606>>715753912>>715753912Yes, so that people don't fall asleep while driving at night.
>>715753481Your lens gets thicker and yellower. I know rich guys that get them swapped out with artificial ones just to see childhood color again
>>715753814The ozone is almost completely fixed
>>715753945my town is run by hippies who care about "light polution" so we actually get very atmospheric nights and roads with good night skies and seldomly illuminated streets
the cons are niggers from nearby city come to do crime and it's annoying to search for parking near your friend's house at nights
>>715753945it's unironically a conspiracy to disturb our circadian rhythm and induce sleep depravation
>>715753481Part of it is because of
>>715753606 and part of it is literally just because when you get older the yellow receptors in your eyes get worse
>>715754109ty for the info
noted
>>715753606Would you like a side of LED headlights to go along with that?
>>715753736>Oh well. Ice caps on mars are shrinking too so no matter what we'd the sun has the final say regardless.Bro, Mars is completely uninhabitable. Not a good comparison.
>>715754079if im so tired that im at risk of falling asleep, im going to fall asleep regardless of if the streetlights are yellow or white. this is abullshit excuse. same with lowering crime, making people feel safer, whatever. it creates an antihuman antisoul sterile enviornment, who cares if some freak accidents are lowered by half of a percentage if the entire atmosphere of outside must be reduced to the same feeling of a hospital? why the hell is reducing the occurance of freak accidents by half a percentage more important than the general healh and wellbeing of literally everyone?
>>715754079No the use them cause they consume less power and have to be replaced less often. Personally I'd rather take tax dollars from some useless programs and go back to traditional lighting.
>>715753981It wasn't that bad. 2014 though, now THAT was a shit year.
YEAH WE GET IT THERE WAS A MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE IN WHICH YOU WERE 14 OR SOME OTHER AGE WHEN EVERYTHING WAS GOING RIGHT FOR YOU
2016 was a good year
we had overwatch in its prime
>>715752985 (OP)2016 was fucking miserable for me. Maybe the worst year of my life. Things are marginally better now
>>715753481Same. It's like all the afterschool anime clubroom scenes. I used to play track in HS so I remember that orange hue well, particularly in the fall season when the leaves change and the temp starts to go down to the 70s. Then I'd go home and play MGS3/Halo2/RE4, then finish all my homework. That time period was like the last hoorah before college. Still get that feeling around the autumn season.
>>715754391>it creates an antihuman antisoul sterile enviornmentthis needs to be discussed far FAR MORE, "social aesthetics" or even "biosocial scape design/engineering"
I'm so sick of the pop sci "muh walkable" it means jack shit really, we need to be focusing on far more pression issues that go beyond whether or not you driivng or walking, who cares if it's not soulful or even worse forcebly soulful (like neourbanism you see on panflets)
>>715752985 (OP)>>715753910I'm around the same age and I don't understand having rose tinted glasses for 2016. That's more how I see 2007. Did you guys just forget what being a teenager was like?
>>715754178I have a hard time believing environmentalists, they've lied so much. They freaked out over the miniscule by comparison pollution the west was putting out yet are dead silent against those 2.
>>715752985 (OP)2016, 2017, and 2018 were the best years of my life. Finished school in early 2016 and those 3 years were just me chilling without any care in the world. Forget tertiary studies. That was in mid 2017 and even on the "worst" days, I still had the time of my life.
I fucking peaked back then and there's no way I could ever get those years back :(
>>715752985 (OP)The funny thing is that back in 2016 normalfags were going about how 2016 was le worst year ever. In fact, it started the trend on how every year was the worst year ever.
>>715754379How the fuck would man made global warming affect Mars? And yet, its globally warming.
Face it, the sun is going Hothouse like it did in the Permian Period.

>>715754730the lightning looks great (so much better than the modern unreal slop) but the environment is terrible, it literally doesn't sell you on itself instead of a well designed city it's a "this environment is designed for you to sneek through and do game mechanics"
third person action games suffer this the most but this is also another example
picrel is how its done properly
I really don't get having rose tinted glasses for teenage years or your twenties. Isn't that supposed to be for when you're 4-7 years old, or was I just precocious? Fuck dude, my preteens were complicated.
>>715754945It's just getting exponential now. 2000-2006 was worse than the 90s, 2007-2012 was worse than 00'-06', 2013-2016 was worse than that, 2017-2019 same deal, and then 2020-onward has just been a blur.
>>715755073Most people dont remember pre-teens
>>715754809>It's like all the afterschool anime clubroom scenesABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY
also 2000's movies with scenes set in the late afternoon, after work rush hour
by the time I was in high school (early 2010's) it was gown unfortunately, so I assume you were in hs when I was in early middle school, that checks out.
>>715753360whats wrong with that?
>>715755202How could you not remember your pre-teens if most people's earliest memory is from like age 2?
>>715755291Google it
Most people dont remember pre-teens
>>715755032>How the fuck would man made global warming affect Mars?Exactly. Not sure why you're bringing up mars.
>>715755173I get confused when people group 2007 and 2012 as one era. 2011-2012 still feels somewhat modern to me whereas 2007-2008 feels like classical childhood and like typical 2000s years. 2009 is kinda weird but definitely a childhood year for me.
2012 was the last soulful year
>no LED lights

Send me back
>>715755202I remember being 3 years old in the late 1990's pretty well, then there is a gap until 1st grade, then another gap until the 4th grade
>>715755073Mine aren't about age, they just fall in line with what everyone else has begun to notice about the downfall of society, culture, and media/entertainment. I don't think it's subjective, I think there's an objective truth. Sure there will be some people in the future that will be nostalgiac for the early 2020s, but nowhere near as prevalent as early 2000s nostalgia is now.
>>715752985 (OP)>2016are you fucking serious, these dates get later and later. 2006 fits this image better, and that's at the latest.
>>715755291Most people's earliest memories from 4-5. Almost nobody remembers when they were 2. My earliest memory is from when I was 3
>>715755202if that is you then you should probably get checked out, i don't mean that in a meme way, there might actually be something wrong
most people have quite a lot of memories from 6-12, before 6 it drops off pretty quickly, but many people have memories from when they were 5 or younger
>>715755412>>Gangnam Style and Party Rock blasting on the radio>>Nobody cared about politics or the newsThis is just a really good way to out yourself as having been born later than 2000
>>715755073people who reminisce about their teenage years and twenties are still, accomplishment wise and maturity wise, teenagers and twenty-somethings
>>715755397exact same, in fact even 2009 clusters like 2009-2012 era for me
completely different vibes, fashion, music even, smartphones hell digital cameras became dominant in the cinema around 2009 too so it makes sense
>>715755537NTA but your recollection of events from your pre-teens will usually be pretty spotty. Of course it stands to reason the further back you go your recollection gets worse.
Where the fuck do you people live? The sun is the same color, summer days aren't much warmer than they were back then, and
>>715753606nighttime in the nearby cities are certainly still this color for me
>>715755624I was born in 1991, you faggot.
>>715755412Gangnam Style was always a sovlless forced normie meme and also just plain sucks as a song. Party Rock Anthem is kinosovl though.
>>715755397You're probably right because it wasn't until 2012 that I began to notice things were really different. That was when Windows 8 came out and kickstarted that disgusting trend of minimalist flat color design. By that time, smartphones were officially a part of every day life as well, whereas back in 2008, it was still relatively niche. 2012 or 2013 was also when I began to notice that no one took privacy seriously on the Internet anymore.
>>715755382>>715755509https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/06/210614110824.htm
It was my second of year of college and games were shit since I was in high-school too. No wonder zoomers look dead when I interact with them outside my job.
>>715755202That's very odd because all my friends remember the video games and cartoons we enjoyed in elementary school.
>>715755646while you saying in bad faith, this isn't necessarily a wrong take
people who get easily nostalgic/sentimental (like myself) in fact I'm probably an exteme case live average life
if your life was awful you won't be much nostalgic for anything, if it's literally 12/10 then there is no point in being nostalgic because that was just life, and every day for you is better than the one before
so yeah in reality if you do get nostalgic somewhat often - you live an average life
you are still a nigger for putting it that way though "muh success" lol suck a dick, I don't care about buying stupid shit, it doesn't make me happy
>>7157553972007 is when the Internet started degenerating due to smartphone adoption and social media. 2011-2012 is when the process completed and fully killed off all vestiges of the old Internet. In terms of politics and the news you probably just don't remember but there was tons of retarded shit being reported still, don't you remember all that crap with Arab Spring, Obama, Syria, and Benghazi?
>>715754079Yup, same as the nightlight function on pcs/phones.
>>715753809For me it was 2020. No it wasn't because covid.
The whole 10s are the dark ages. The economy never recovered again and games were turning into soulless husks.
>>715756078>Arab Spring, Obama, Syria, and Benghazi?Yeah and nobody cared about that shit except for losers
I'm a 2001-born and I see 2007-2008 as the peak of my childhood because life had a magical feel and it was before the recession REALLY hit. My core would be 2006-2011 probably. I never took the shift to 2010s culture all that well.
>>715752985 (OP)This does not apply to a single day past 2012.
>>715756078smartphone cancer didn't hit until much later around 2012

>>715756078Early 10s is when I noticed web sites started catering to phones by going diagonal instead of horizon. There's so much empty space on the side on websites now.

>>715756078It could just be from the eyes of a child but I thought 2009 was the shift back then rather than 2007. iPhones were a novelty item rather than an everyday object in 2007. Culture started transitioning as a whole to gay minimalism upon Obama's election.

In fact, every time I'm reminded that something like 92.5% of YouTube's web traffic is smartphones/tablets, I get the wind knocked out of me a little bit.

>>715756580I don't understand this viewpoint either. It makes way more sense than pretending 2016 was sunshine and rainbows if you werent a little kid during the time but gay 2010s culture was in full swing by 2011. Occupy is where modern woke got into the mainstream. 2007 is too early to pinpoint a downfall in culture because that's a peak internet year. 2008 too. So 2009/when the recession peaked might be a good middle man.

>>715758752you're close. the searing effect is inherent to LEDs regardless of running lights, low beams, or high beams. it's the natural result of a very small, very very bright light source- or several of them- shining in your direction (not even necessarily AT you) and then refracting through the air/the glass/your eyes/rain/et cetera. it's usually referred to as a 'dazzle' effect and they know goddamn well it hurts your eyes which is why so many tacticool flashlights have beams and settings specifically to dazzle and confuse. previous headlight types didn't have this problem- halogen bulbs reflect the output light forward but not the shape of the bulb itself (think about how an older car's headlights look like they're glowing when viewed from even a slight off-angle, but aren't actually shining right into your eyes even in the beam itself), xenons were cool but expensive, HID lights have a signature sort of 'glowing orb' (not the same as angel eyes), but LEDs are both cheaper to produce en masse and yet monstrously expensive to replace because fuck you, they set the prices.
>the mindless goycattle consumer thinks the lights aren't on because the normal headlights only turn on a small LED strip and the retarded normies think that isn't enough. So they turn their brights onthis is actually backwards, you have a lot more people driving WITHOUT headlights these days because they assume all cars have automatic headlights (they don't) and even if they do they're often set wrong, so they think their daytime running lights are actual headlights. in the past you could tell by whether your gauge cluster was lit up or not even in the absence of a headlight indicator light, but ALL cars have giant digital clusters that are permanently illuminated and digital screens these days so that doesn't work anymore

God damn gaming went to shit wii/ps3 onwards
>>715756684it's a design that just werks, a case of convergent evolution

>>715759518As long as you don't notice those things coinciding with the boom of internet connectivity; social media; smart phones, and all the modern shit plaguing gaming, everything will be fine
>>715759303To add to this: Brighter lights are supposed to be angled downward but most people never adjust their lights and most shops won't unless you ask, so newer lights are designed to be sharply bright but aimed below eye level but are all pointed straight forward. This not only means they shine into oncoming cars, but drivers can't see the road right in front of them well and switch on brights (which have a wider illumination) to get the light to shine lower.
This started before LEDs back in the mid 2000s when xenon lights became a fad.
>>715758934I've lived in the same house for 31 years and for about a week in the summer, there's this one time of day where the sun sets just right on the horizon that it shines through one window, through that room, a doorway, a hallway, cuts through a back to back bend just right and goes down THAT hallway, and the whole fucking place turns orange. It still makes me grin.

>>715759572Because shitty is subjective and entirely dependent on your own quality and viewpoint of life. What is more likely: the entire world has been shit the last 20 years or your life has been shit for the last 20 years? You can be happy again you just have to try. Exercise, stop watching porn and slop, eat healthy, go outside, talk to girls, fix your dopamine addiction. Eventually you might be able to see the world the same way you once did when you were young.
>>715754225Good, fuck early birds.
>>715759803yeah light angle is a big problem too, a lot of lights don't really have cutoffs now (something else those other fancy types of lights had, sometimes it was a physical lever moving inside to block part of the light as a shutter) and in general vehicles are tall as fuck now and it's not just the vehicles but how high the lights are mounted since everything is a crossover. so susan in her CUV thinks she needs the high beams to see further down the road rather than having the lows adjusted and there's basically no goddamn standards to any of this other than NOT allowing things Europe has had for decades like lights that auto-dim or auto-aim only on the side of oncoming traffic (in burgerland it took us until the 80s to stop using sealed beams for everything and that only stopped because Ford of all companies asked the highway administration to change the law)
also if you drive anything other than a modern crossover or truck you're basically getting literally blinded from sundown to sunup because of those brightness and direction related factors since everyone's headlights are now literally at your eye level or above

I'll be 25 tomorrow, just 5 more years.
>>715765216I chose this comment to reply, as I've been thinking about this too lately. My sense of time is fucked ,plainly. After 3 meaningless decades I feel like I finished a main story but not feeling like doing the side quests. It was never good, but the shit ramped up the last few years, and unless I die in an accident or war, there is still 30 more years to go, at least.
What the fuck? Who designed this progression system? I'm having existential debates with myself every day, my body started to deteriorate in turbo mode, tired of work, tired of hobbies. It is simply soul-drainingly exhausting to be alive.
>>715764305>>715764335Shrinking class sizes is intentional to have teachers give more time per individual student. Less kids means more productivity. Bigger classes means more kids would be ignored due to being teachers being undermanned. When I was a kid most were around 23-26, I think now they're 20 tops in elementary school.
>>715769878That's good. Its funny that every problem can actually be traced to the rife dysfunction of the process of child raising, chief being the way schools are run, and chief of that being the size of classes.
But I think the ideal size is probably in the realm of five or so students per teacher.
>>715769794Yeah you shit on zoomers but don't realize the significance of zoomers. You know the upper end are 30 now right? Zoomers have had a big influence on literally everything even if you don't want to admit it.

>>715770142Walk it back. Its following world war 2. The nations that acted out of imperialism (fundamentally selfish incentives) were wiped out as disruptive to the global economy. Everything else is an implementation of the plan laid out by the internationals to make sure nothing would ever again threaten global integration. The complete subservience of the human experience to the Faustian spirit.
>>715770095Don't meme us into hopelessness (please). I just want us to get in and have a chance. Alpha, I wish the best for them too because that's even worse.
>>715769947No, ten is probably the right number. Too few and they get too insular. When they're that young you want larger numbers to help stimulate socialization. There's a sweet spot somewhere between five and fifteen for kids to maximize learning and socialization, which is honestly the most important component of elementary schooling, in my opinion.
>>715770330Education needs to be separated from the process of social acclimation. Children should not be learning to socially acclimate through the process of learning how to do maths, or write.
>>715770286I'm a millennial and my friends are having kids now, and I told him it will be awkward when he has to go into school and explain why his child keeps calling everyone a nigger. He laughed out loud at the prospect.
>>715770418I think zoomers will be looked at almost like boomers. The inventors of calling people nigger and pointing out Jewish power but too cucked to do anything about it. Still had somewhat of a society but too cucked to prevent it from going to shit.
>>715770393I think they do, it teaches multitasking and prioritization of tasks at hand. Core memories are also gained in schools, you want them to be enjoyable for the children. Curriculum can still be taught without issue. Removing the social incentives to learn and learning from one another in classes can burn children out. Kids are simple, you want to keep them motivated, keep them amongst other children and get them to build each other up. When I was in first grade I remember my teacher asking me to help one of the slower kids learn how to read, and it helped him, and he figured out he liked reading once he figured out how to.
>>715766030Nta but
>where do you get the SUN having any fucking impact on things? The sun is getting hotter, you can look it up. To write off the sun as the thing which is causing the heat to go up is retarded bro
>>715770618I don't know if you're a millennial but I think we're a hybrid of boomers and gen-x where we know how good things are supposed to be but are too fucking burnt out and jaded to care and are more content to let the shit stack burn down instead of fixing our parents' mistakes. Not pussing out and not doing anything out of laziness or fear, but being accelerationists. Broadly speaking as a generation, I mean. There are outliers. Most of my millennial friends are racist via exposure to blacks in adulthood. I don't know any zoomers IRL on a personable level to know how they feel about that stuff.
>>715770636What I mean to say (to take a concrete example) that given the intent to teach children maths, they should do it in small groups of five, with the teacher being hyper focused on the needs of those five kids. This should make up a much smaller portion of a child's time than currently is used (because the focus here is on teaching maths, not also these other things, and also not with a lowest common denominator approach), with the now freed up time used for physical training regimes, learning skills that are more practical and relatable to those children (schools are woefully bad at this) and group exercises that are actually purposefully engineered to exercise cooperation and competition. The way that its all kind of just munged together creates adverse and chaotic results.
>>715770845I'm a zoomer. I just know we aint it, so to speak. We didn't do shit, just like you didnt do shit. We taught a bunch of kids to be "based, " and that's our claim to fame. We were cowards when it came to doing anything we did nothing. I see zoomers shitting on millenials, and I think that's a retard move. We have far more in common than what we have in common with gen alpha that we taught and in turn were taught by you. We are all cowards who deserve the world we live in.
>>715771205as the youngest millennial (who is literally about to turn 30) I do not hate zoomers at all and look down on people who do (99-01 are actually preferable to my generation)

>>715768214Including this site that you're posting on.
Oh, the ironing.
>>715771049I'll just keep rambling for a bit longer here..
I think the parents are much better positioned to teach these life skills (and create an environment for learning them). As a society we have more or less outsourced the entire process of child raising post infancy to schools so that the parents can work their 9-5 on dual income. Which is disastrous. Kids must learn to acclimate to society in school.. Why? What makes schools particularly well suited for this? Schools may teach children things that their parents cannot. But this is the sole advantage schools have over what parents can do.
In practice, how does this work today? Teachers are unable to create stable environments in their classrooms. It is a warped form of authority where the children neither operate in a kind of "survival of the fittest" jungle where the natural, innate processes of human interaction play out, nor in the very "proper" environment that their parents have both the power and responsibility to create.
Should a capable and responsible parent be able to punish their child as they see fit? Absolutely. Should an incapable parent be able to do that? Universalism says probably not, but I argue yes. Should a teacher, capable or incapable be able to? Absolutely not, and they do not. So we end up with an environment where conditions are emergent, but emerging from unnatural conditions, as opposed to either natural, or engineered. This is where they learn life skills. It is not learning, it is traumatizing.
