RE4 sold horribly on the Gamecube and it was about to be written off as a total loss for Capcom and they were going to have to file for bankruptcy. Projected sales were in the toilet so they hastily announced the PS2 version before it launched and the Gamecube version ended up selling like dog milk as expected of an M rated title on the purple lunchbox. The PS2 version ended up being insanely profitable and saved the company.

Yet despite those facts, GroidCubers act like RE4 was a defining game for the system (which nearly destroyed Capcom if they stuck to Shinji's insane platform exclusive nonsense) and not one of the many defining games for the better selling competitor

What did happen:

Resident Evil 4 was initially released exclusively on GameCube in early 2005 (North America: January, Europe: March)
.

Capcom had planned the game as part of their “Capcom Five” titles to support GameCube, but due to poor GameCube hardware sales and smaller install base, they quickly scrapped exclusivity and ported RE4 to PlayStation 2 in late 2005 .

The GameCube version sold around 1.6 million copies worldwide, while the PS2 version sold over 2 million (some sources cite 2.2–2.3M)

What didn’t happen:
1. RE4 did not “sell horribly” on GameCube

GameCube version’s ~1.6M copies was strong for a third‑party mature‑rated game on GameCube. It sold well in its niche—not a total flop as implied ≠ "dog milk" sales

2. Capcom never neared bankruptcy over RE4

There’s no record of Capcom facing bankruptcy risk due to RE4 or needing to port it to avoid going under. Capcom remained financially stable throughout 2005–2007.

3. The PS2 version didn’t “save the company”

Though porting to PS2 significantly boosted sales, RE4 was already widely praised and selling respectably on GC. PS2 boosted overall reach by several hundred thousand copies, but not to the extent of being existential lifeline for Capcom

Gamecube is the worst pile of dogshit ever made and almost made Nintendo and Caocom go bankrupt

The controller was so fucking bad, some games like SSX have entire button combos gutted from the game
The first party was terrible. Mario shitshine is by far the worst 3d mario, wind waker killed zeldas, double dass was a barren tech demo for mkWii, etc
The console design was made for faggots and trannies; a purple box. No wonder so many cubies grew up to be smelee groomers and trooned out mario shitshine apeedrunners.

It's diddly dick for modern games with inflated budgets. At the time, though, the average AAA rarely had a budget over $10,000,000. Even if were EXTREMELY generous and said the budget was $30,000,000, it still sold $1,600,000. 49.99 x 1,600,000 = nearly $80,000,000. That's way more than necessary to make back on this inflated hypothetical budget, and almost certainly enough to make back any advertising cost, too. The game absolutely did not sell like "dog milk", it easily made AT least it's budget back thrice over on the cube. And don't start again with the

It would have sold at least a million more if they released it on the original XBox, or the DS. It's a complete nothing statement. Also, you've yet to substantiate your claim of "Capcom was LICHRALLY about to go bankrupt if they didn't release it on the PS2!"
