CoD was never supposed to be "silly" Anon. Even when it got a little silly by adding the zombies mode, it at least tried taking itself seriously with a long overarching storyline.

Actually, I've seen a fair amount of fans complaining that they're turning the game into Fortnite. But of course there's always the "just let people have fun" crowd who use that buzzphrase to justify every stupid thing they see, even if it's for the sake of devil's advocate. I think eventually live service slop will reach critical mass and it stops being profitable because everyone gets tired of it.
