I wanted to like Chrono Odyssey but it needs at least another year in the oven.
Bellatores came out of nowhere and could be what Chrono Odyssey should've been but no information about release dates.
New World is dead as fuck and has a ton of integrity issues from cheating and exploits.

I just want a high budget, WASD, non-isometric MMO with a focus on the open-world and player conflict and group play, no in-game sanctioned P2W and good combat. Player interaction is not in any way shape or form encouraged in OSRS. It's entirely soloable with the exception of 2 bosses. Iron man mode is basically built around the idea of playing entirely solo. Then there's an in-built fuction in Runelite to turn off other players from your screen, plus ability to turn all forms of chat off.

many different modes like hardcore, boar, warmode etc.

lots of custom additional content, custom dungeon expansions, raid expansions, entirely new raids, new gear, new mechanics, new zones/quests/races/class combos, and it all fits into the aesthetic of vanilla.

and they're releasing their own custom client later this year that will make it easier for them to develop more and better content.

the reality is that people just want shared online spaces to hang out in.
you go to the movie theater to experience it with other people at the theater. they literally do not matter though, just that they're real people and you're sharing the moment with them.
you go to a bar to have drinks with other people. if the goal was just to get drunk you would just stay home and drink. who the other people are doesn't matter, just that they're real people.

and AI is proving that they may not even need to be real people, as long as they're capable of more interaction than the simple dialogue trees which were invented in the first RPGs back in the 90s.
