That is a really good point, anon. But it probably extends to a lot of other things about Bloodlines 1 in particular as a game. I'm a huge fan but there are aspects of the game's design and the perception of freedom, the perception of it being systems-driven and stuff like that which is sorta illusionary.

To be fair to the new devs, reading their interviews it seems that Pyhre is largely an enigmatic, ambiguous character that you define through your responses. Who Phyre is, or who Phyre is pretending to be, is something that is largely player defined. The face can't change (AFAIK) but the clothing and hair can. I mean, we don't actually know what the character customization is like. I guess it's sorta inherent to having a protagonist who has (nominally) a name as opposed to the litany of nicknames that the protagonist of Bloodlines 1 has. (Fledgling, for example.) Some will point out that Phyre's real name is also unknown and characters only know him/her as "the nomad", but that seems like a messaging issue maybe.
