It's the best Soulsborne game by far, you're in for a treat.

I put 900 hours into it, I think its amazing for what it was. Id rate DS2 as the best just because of the lore and characters, DS3 is a close second because it does everything so well but theres one part of the story I dont like, near the end. You're going to love it.

It has tons of mods for it also so after you go through a few times, mod the shit out of it and enjoy it all over again.

It's the best game right up there with Demon's Souls 2009.

It's the fast pace of Bloodborne except without bastardizing everything that made Souls good and with more than one level theme the entire game.

Gone is the careful and methodical gameplay veterans loved from DeS and DS2 SoTFS. Instead you mash buttons and press the roll button at the right time.

this is accurate. d3 is bad and elden ring is crap aswell. demon souls and dark souls un-remastered are the ones with soul. d2 is just kind of cool, losts of weapons and flexibility in terms of builds and items, cool locations, cool bosses etc. d3 is when the normies really sunk their fangs in, but it was around d2 where they started catering it to that audience, that's why its sort of 50/50. elden ring is queer faggot stuff

To me, DS3 was the point where Fromsoft started going downhill. It was drivative, linear, lazy, and boring. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as all of their previous games.

Do you spend qp mins in a single fight? I hate that shit. Then the dumbass devs thought it was a good idea to "hey lets make bosses rise from the dead right after they are beaten and make the dumbass player fight em again."

Too much nostalgiabaiting.

It is mechanically great but kinda boring. It's very much "we were forced to make this game but still at least kinda tried", it's very polished and the level design isn't bad but it's very straightforward and never really hits the highs like DS1 did. Not a bad game, not a bad dark souls game, but it doesn't bring much new to the table.
The plot being "it's time to let go, when you do the same thing over and over it stops being worthwhile" should clue you into the devs thoughts on being forced to make it.

Why would normalfags have nostalgia for previous entries if this is the entry that appealed to them? Why is referencing previous numbered entries in a series fanservice?

It’s an asset flip from Bloodborne. A bit too self referred. Still a very good game though despite all this. Love the ending from the DLC.

It's weird, thinking about it objectively - extreme roll spam, spergy bosses, ugly grey colours everywhere, very linear world etc.
But at the same time it's the one I replayed the most by a large margin, so there's definitely something fun about the package.

I put 3500hours into it. Mechanically it is the best. Yes better than elden slop. World is too linear. DLCs are the best bits. Pontiff and Ringed City invasions were brilliant. Way better then ANYTHING in elden slop. Ledo's Hammer way better than anything in elden slop.
Dark Souls 2 Scholar is still the most replayable however.

They objectively are. Rolls are the fastest and have the most iframes in the entire series. A lot of bosses have very long combos, certainly longer than any of the other games. It's definitely the most grey game, too. Large parts happening in dungeons, swamps or the piss coloured castle. And yes, again, objectively the most linear world in the series. There's really only one skip if you kill dancer early, but even then you're arbitrarily locked out of archives because the key just doesn't spawn. Then you've got Cathedral of the Deep that you can choose to go to before or after Catacombs. And one small fork when choosing to go for Yhorm or Aldrich first. Then you've got two side areas - Izalith and Archdragon's peak. And that's all. The entirety of pathing choices you get in the game. Compare it to DS2 where you've got 4 different paths to go basically at any given time, or DS1 which utterly mogs the other two in that regard.

They got it right the first time. Demon's Souls is more or less a perfect game and everything that followed was just straying from its perfection.

>Dark Souls
Nearly as good, but is too inconsistent in quality
>Dark Souls 2
Decent game but has too many weird issues and jank due to development hell
>Dark Souls 3
Linear, boring level design, and despite having spammy enemies is too easy because of its awful balancing and mechanics
>Elden Ring
Basically the same as Dark Souls 3 but instead of being linear it's too open and has copy-pasted "content" scattered around empty fields for 90% of the game

Bloodborne and Sekiro are cool because they did substantially different stuff.

>Rolls are the fastest and have the most iframes in the entire series.
False
>A lot of bosses have very long combos, certainly longer than any of the other games.
Good game design
>It's definitely the most grey game, too. Large parts happening in dungeons, swamps or the piss coloured castle.
Which they look great
>There's really only one skip if you kill dancer early, but even then you're arbitrarily locked out of archives because the key just doesn't spawn.
You can access 3 endgame areas instantly. No other Souls game allows that.
>The entirety of pathing choices you get in the game.
Which is a lot and allows you to actually travel through several areas at any time through several points of the gane, which you can choose depending on actual goals and builds. You also forgot the DLC. The circlejerk of nonlinearity is schizophrenic and fueled by poseurs that don't understand the actual meaning behind it. Dark Souls 3 adds a lot of incentives to actually choosing some areas over the others. For example reaching the altar of Sunlight early changes completely your run as Faith character because Dark Souls 3 actually focuses on carefully spreading content in such way.
>Compare it to DS2 where you've got 4 different paths to go basically at any given time
Through inane bullshit like random cutscenes and loading screens artificially connecting maps dead end to dead end

I have a hard time picking between DeS and DaS as my favorite. I gotta replay both soon. Both the remaster and the remake are shit and ruin the atmosphere.
