Has any movie or TV series ever retroactively made part of itself non-canon and basically just tried again? For example, if Disney hated Rise of Skywalker so much, they just decanonized it and made another movie to replace it in canon. I've always wondered why filmmakers don't do this

They do a lot. Weeb shit but Eureka Seven is the most fucked up example. The director wanted a shitty depressing ending but his coworkers loved the characters too much and wanted them to have a happy end so for the last 20 years he has been fucking it up culminating with the original series being retconned as the main female lead hallucinating the original series trying to cope with the protagonist who she loved dying.

There's a lot of shit like movies will just ignore all the alien movies and make a sequel to aliens. I dont know enough about them but horror movies do it a lot like Halloween and Jason and shit

Blue Exorcist had a first half as a proper adaption of the manga, but the second half was full retardation anime only I'm Pope Retardus I, let's open a gate to hell so we can NUKE SATAN that was irreconcilable with the rest of the manga.

Genisys was a reboot. If you want more sequels to T2 then look no further than Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I fucking love Terminator franchise and how they messed it up. They keep trying to go from T2, failing and going again. Then with Genisys they decided to go back even further and restart the whole thing. The failed and decided go to back to trying to do a good sequel to T2.

Nah it's a one-trick phony in the sense that it's another super-downer pessimistic Korean drama doing socio commentary. Not sure what NF was expecting ordering a second season when the writer can only write such material.
