You're supposed to set the scanlines so high, you can't see anything, thereby making the defects effectively disappear.

Zidane's face is scrunched and strange in setting 8. I think setting 9 is correct. The text seems more correct as well, I think. I really don't know.
It looks gorgeous either way, it makes me sad I haven't been emulating these masterpieces earlier.

my aperture grill crt has 550 lines so I just made the shader draw 550 lines and then line that up with the resolution scaled to next integer.
