how is Vicky 3 now? I haven't touched it based on how rough the launch went but that was nearly 3 years ago now
>>715788981
Based. Vicky 2 is the best Paradox game, I love being an industrial superpower and bullying smaller nations in accepting unequal treaties.

it's gotten incredibly better since the last dlc which changed the whole trade system and there's finally world market.

That means don't even need to industrialise now and can build a shitton of trade centres to import everything you need while specialising in a few goods that you excel at.

It makes playing minor countries and building tall way more interesting.

The capacity to conquer land is constant in Victoria 3, with some techs lowering it against unrecognized countries.
Your capacity to industrialized and build industry to employ people is constantly growing.
Meaning that at some point you're not going to be able to build industry for people you control directly or indirectly, and all that's left it building industry in other countries.
Which means you're industrializing your potential enemies.
I find this conundrum frustrating and don't want to play the game due to it.

The game will be long finished before you have to build industry in potential enemies because the game lets you build industry in any country as long as you have the rights. You could industrialise in small countries or countries on the other side of the world and reap the rewards without ever having to worry about them.

Conquering land is severely limited by infamy, and if you ignore it the wole world will unite against you.

If took me until about the 60 hour mark to finally "get" it.
I had a lot of fun playing an independent texas.
I just wish the mechanics for passing reforms were a bit more obvious (basically, get libtards in power for political stuff, a socialist or commie dictatorship for social reforms)

politics is way more nuanced now and the commie way is not really the best and is now hard to achieve due to how strong industrialists are.

laissez faire + free trade and basing your whole economy on the free market is extremely powerful IF your country is rich and can invest overseas (otherwise all the big companies will invest and steal everything from you).

>>715794874
Don't see why not but it's a bit like cheating if you have to play Russia first to release Poland and then switch.

With the new treaties it's easier to play krakow and get all 3 GP to play each other. FIrst war to fight austria and get galicia and indepence.
2nd war beat up russia and release poland and then get all of that for free via event.
Then find a way to beat up prussia for final borders.
Later on you can go back to whacking on the russians by yourself and forming the commonwealth if you want to meme it up.

I had building capacity in the thousands in the middle of the game and the whole of japan employed
small countries would be buried under industry in 3 months, their peasants completely eliminated as a class, if they allowed me to invest in them

This is pretty much China's story in the 20th century. I still build railroads for them do it every time for those sweet silk and tea RGOs. Snatching Taiwan away is also good if you just need the tea.

The actual fundaments on vicky 3 are amazing. The simulation and the emergent properties from it make vicky 2 look like pong. It's scary how accurate it can get sometimes without any railroading, as far as economic principles go.
The game content itself is much worse though. Broken or just poorly thought out events, the UI is still somewhere around half and full retard, performance is very bad. It's like they took a rough diamond and threw it into a septic tank for us to find. Still can't go back to vicky 2 though.
