Other than that, it's a cool mmorpg that focuses on horizontal progression in the form of acquiring skills and making your own builds to tackle different challenges.
It's pretty much a group-only game so you'll always be grouped up when progressing, but almost every piece of content was always designed for a solo player to be able to recruit prebuilt NPCs and beat the content with them.
If you make a character in Nightfall or when you eventually get there, you'll get advanced NPCs whose skills and gear you can customize, and whose positioning you can micromanage, and those will become the bread and butter of your groups for everything. Getting these advanced NPCs early is usually a good idea but not a requirement if you prefer going in blind and focusing on learning your profession first, instead of having to focus on 8 different builds all at once and metagaming it.
