Who did it best? Who did it worst?

Worst has to be kimahri. I don't know if I've seen any playthrough of the game where he wasn't benched for almost all of it.

Quinoa was my favorite. Challenging way to acquire spells but satisfying, the spells get really good like Vanish although it doesn’t last long enough. Quina makes boss battles so easy I usually half ignore her

Strago. Kimahiri and Quistis a gimped by blue magic being tied to their limits. Quistis suffer slightly less due to how limit works in 8 but even then that blue magic is competing with other characters much better limits. I stopped playing 9 a couple hours into disc 2 so I never got Quina.

the devs seemed to know just how bad Kimahri is with how the ronso fight with him late game scales to his level and is MUCH easier if you barely leveled him at all

Kimahri is the undisputed worst. Never played FF6 enough to have an opinion of Strago but Quistis loses points having Blue Magic only available as a limit break. This leaves Quina as the Blue Mage GOAT

Quina is goat, it's easy to play the frog game (if tedious) and their limit allows for easy BM learning.

In her defense, 8 is built around being able to abuse the limit system, so she can use hers more often then what you would think. Setting up Mighty Guard against some bosses usually justifies her on my team alone, and she has her degenerator skill she can use to kill normal enemies easier if you want to level up to 99.

FFV system was best. If anyone has the Blue Mage job or the Learn skill from Blu equipped, they just need to be hit by the spell to learn it for your party's pool of blue magic. You get a lot of freebies that are also appropriate to the portion of the game you can find them in, and a bunch of more powerful spells that require a bit of legwork to pick up.

quina is the best
quistis is not good, BUT in ff8 you can buff "aura" can use limit break all the time
strago whatever, ff6 was so-so
ff5 was ever worse

Not only is Kimari the worst in his game, he's also responsible for the war crime that is PL. He really should have never existed.

quistis is the worst by far. just all around pointless.
kimahri is a good character but the same blue magic issue quistis has.
strago you get way too late and the way you get his blue magic sucks and he needs help from other characters in many cases. gau does the gimmick better at that game with an interesting berserker twist mix. blue magic also isnt amazing in the game and everybody gets homogenized into knowing powerful magic regardless thanks to the esper system.
quina is by far the best of those but blue magic is bestest in FF5.
