>>715818332this, if enemies in your game are primarily melee and actually threatening then by default melee is just going to be a more dangerous playstyle. melee characters generally need free stats somewhere because they are going to need to care more about defense and need to build around it. in a game where enemies are designed around max damage output a melee that is splitting investment in survivability and offense is ALSO going to kill slower and as such be in even more danger.
its why melee characters often need more support, better gear, higher levels etc. D2 in particular gets super lethal towards the higher end and this means melee characters just need way better gear to succeed compared to characters that can kite and spam abilities.
