Never played it (or any Assassin's Creed game sans the first) but I'll take your word for it that this is done terribly. She never would have competed in the Olympics, period. She also never would have served as a soldier. That said, she's a Spartan, correct? Spartan women were not expected to serve as soldiers but they were trained to fight under the assumption that chadettes would give birth to more chads. You absolutely have to wave your hands around to make the plot happen, but it's a game about assassination, not fighting a direct war, so maybe you could bullshit this story if you really want to. You could force it, but the story would need to be rewritten from the ground up. You can't just do this game with a simple character swap. A male and female versions of the main story would need to be utterly unrecognizable from each other. You would need an entirely seperate campaign just for the woman.

No one has ever depicted the Boston Tea Party correctly. It was an irl shitpost. Portraying it accurately means making a joke that doesn't land because you kind of just had to be there and ruins the drama, while playing it for drama and its historical significance means making shit up.

We've been asking for a game set in feudal japan for a long time, and instead of doing what every other game in the series did (except revelations for good reason), where we play as a local to the land, we instead play as a historical figure who clearly can't easily blend in to crowds to hide because he's so obviously identifiable.
Yasuke could have been a supporting character, and people would have been just fine with it.
Just look at Adewale from Black Flag. Beloved character who even talks about how he used to be a slave.
