So? The Mona Lisa is locked behind a million dollar price tag. You don't have a right to own and experience everything.

It's a gorgeous game. Shame it gets pretty dull to play by the time you hit disc 3 even with its short playtime.
Orta's the best game in the series even if it feels a bit tacked on storywise and in aesthetic. The boss positioning is a great callback to Saga's battle system.

The game is definitely ugly. It's a very late Saturn game, too. It's no wonder the PS1 won so easily. Games like MGS1, Ape Escape, Crash 2/3 and Spyro mog the living shit out of the Saturn, it's not even funny.

yes the exteriors are ugly and the gameplay isn't interesting. people like it for the atmosphere and they just imagine other qualities (probably some kind of bias because the game is expensive).

>>715824153
the saturn was long dead before the release of this game, and it's not representative of its library at all.

Orta is great and gameplay wise the best, but rabid Saturn fans deride it because it has ACTUAL DETAIL instead of riding a dragon over a gigantic emptiness stretching into the horizon (which was a result of the Saturn not being able to do much 3d, so they made the landscape with the mode 7 chip and threw 2-3 enemies in there).

It really isn't that good
Despite only being about 10 hours long it's still overly padded, the ending section especially was bad
The combat is a joke, the only interesting part is the world
I think people vastly overrate this because it's semi-obscure

Nah, get a Saturn and an ODE like Fenrir Saroo, or Satiator. You're literally spoiled for choice with the Saturn. I guess a Fenrir lite is about to release and it's like $60. You get to play on real hardware, you get your cake and to eat it too.

I emulated it to completion circa 2007 using the SSF emulator. It ran perfectly.
Brilliant game and much more consistent than its contemporary FF7 which falls apart after midgar.

The only letdown in pacing in PDS is a certain dungeon that drags on a little too much around the 3/4 mark IIRC.
The soundtrack is absolutely incredible, Archipel has some piano renditions from the original composer and they're heartbreakingly good.

Orta is not very good. It misses the point.
The gold standard for the shootemup panzer dragoon games is Zwei.

I remember i beat this in a rent-a-console place when i was 12 or something. It was night and the owner wanted to close up but i was on the final boss so he waited for me to beat the game for like 45 minutes.

Still remember that shit 25 years later
