Confused by the consensus that this is good? Just tried to start a playthrough of this on ps3 but already feel like dropping it. Conceptually I like the idea of cranking up uncharted's gunplay with further resource management but this just completely lacks tension, I cranked the difficulty up to the max but the braindead ai combined with the ability to punch your way out of situations is just killing the experience for me, feels almost like a arkham game. Uncharted I could handle the goofier combat as it fit the genre, but the constant taking itself seriously and taking control away to focus on a middling plot is driving me nuts. Likely gonna put it down and just reread desert punk or playthrough lisa the painful again to get my apoc fix, but genuine question to anons who love this game, what niche does it scratch for you? it felt less like resident evil and more just like life is strange meets a ubisoft shooter trying to look like that will smith I am legend adaptation. Hate to make a post just to complain but seriously just need to wash my mouth of that whole experience, and shocked, this made max payne 3 look decent in retrospect and thats saying something.

tl;dr, what drew people in to this, beside movie plot and nice graphics for the time?

I honestly prefer the sequel, it has better combat and works better as a horror game

The story is what drew me in, but I agree the gameplay is such bullshit. AI enemies are so fucking prone to noise and have the best 20/20 vision that’s it’s fucking unfair.

Forgot to mention I got to the university on PS3 years ago and just gave up because how shitty the aiming was and the enemy just kept flanking me consistently and I had almost no ammo. This was when grounded mode was first released.
