It didn't. The survivor trilogy all sold extremely well in spite of their diminishing returns. There just hasn't been a new AAA entry in a while and honestly, that's fine. The remasters were more based anyways.

Without that tank control platforming with those low poly levels the series just isn't the same anymore.
