Started playing a little GW2 again for some reason. Even before I saw the expansion stuff being announced.
Was surprised to see how skimpy some of the armor is. Its refreshing in a way. Like a time machine really. And they all actually look fucking cool too (mostly).

Is the story actually that bad? I only have the base game because I got it at launch, just didn't stick with it. I didnt want to buy an expansion after missing a sale if I wasn't certain I wanted to keep playing, so just going through base story and leveling to 80 before I decide.
I hear later stuff was pretty cool, but the beginning is definitely generic as fuck.
After being in MMOs where the story and lore actually are cared about by players for so long, its weird to be told to largely ignore it in one.

After a certain point in the story it becomes about you just kinda being there and watching someone else become important. The dialog also reeks of "I have a tumblr blog" if you catch my drift.
I don't know if it's changed in recent memory, but the story's advanced so far that I mostly just ignore whatever new developments there are because I don't want to bother catching up.

I think things are better than they were. It's still fun if not a little imbalanced.
It's not pay to win either like people say. Vanilla Necro and Vanilla Guardian are still excellent in pvp.
It's MMORPG PVP. Look up which classes are good and which aren't.

It starts okay first 30 levels, then gets mediocre in the faction storylines, then becomes utter shit in the pact ark, I wasn't around for season 1 and quit before they re-added it, season 2 is just a whole lot of doing fuck all and flailing around until HoT where your marhsall sends all the ships into the jungle to shoot cannons at the ground and then get completely decimated. You then flail around some more until you figure out that you need to kill the dragon's soul. Then season 3 comes which is INSULTINGLY bad, then PoF comes which is REFRESHINGLY mediocre, then Season 4 has you... Fuck, I don't even remember. I think your dragon daughter dies and you mourn her and then she resurrects like literally 3 minutes later and then you kill the crystal dragon by killing him. Then you go on to deal with the trans dragon who tries to get you to trust xer because xe is a dragon of lies and manipulation and then you kill xer by making xer fight xer shitlord brother (he/him) and they mutually implode from each other's secondhand embarassment. Then they brought back a giant robot woman from season 1 where they literally FLATTENED her ass and breasts and then I quit.
The story isn't that bad. It's worse than you can imagine. You should stop playing it before you either lose what little is left of your brain and become one of those queers or you quit and spend days pondering how you got your dumb ass roped into this garbage despite all the red flags.
