yes, they're good games, trapped on a horrible engine. 3's writing is shit, but it was 2008 so at least it's not punched down like the nonsense for softy _soi-suckers that is released today.

both games crash. you have to install so many mods. with 3 i'm up to like a dozen mods already. NV i had like 40, but some of those were personal preference, not necessary.

if you really love and respect fallout, lack an A+ certification, or just don't like that "fix it yourself" kind of bullshit when you pay for games then they won't be for you.

fallout 4 is turbo gay but i'd still play it if i'm just starved for the atmosphere of fallout. i'd probably even like it if i someday suffered severe brain damage.

you really shouldn't need that many just for basic stability
if all you want is the game to not crash, with fo3 and nv you pirate the GoG version (or buy w/e) and disable all autosaves
with the GoG versions, the only random crashes you should get really should be from save corruption (because autosaves will save while data isn't fully finished loading) disabling all autosaves means that can't happen
i would recommend using mods, mind, but just to avoid crashes you shouldn't need them, i've done many pure vanilla runs, typically i'll get fallout 3's casm and use that for autosaves, it works for nv as well by just switching its master to nv's .esm

does GoG version get rid of the mouse acceleration issue in fo3? this is why i hated that game so much. it always had that problem. the cursor sneaks outside of the current monitor if you have multiple monitors. after the first time you click outside of the window, it minimizes and pauses. when you tab back in, the mouse acceleration is suddenly insanely multiplied, and now every in-game interaction is suddenly shit. everything to do with menus, including dialogue, with the hacking console, everything.

i never found a fix for this. the only fix only works with 1 monitor and it's in one of the major bug fix patches, and it still does exactly what i just described. it works until the cursor snakes out of the window then it stops. i hate this so fucking much. please respond.

i don't have it installed right now, i keep the gog installer on my 8tb hdd and just install it when i want to play then wipe everything when i'm done
like i say, all i do is run the gog version + casm + windowed (from launcher) + windowed borderless gaming (oh and locked 60fps + vsync in nvidia control panel because frame rate limiting in beth games is broken)

On non meme talking, using a new engine is a prerequisite (also the game being singleplayer) for me to even look at the game, also OBSIDIAN's record is not at its best at the moment.
