That's exactly it. The first two games in the Sky trilogy were completely rewritten by localizer and author Jessica Chavez. The English scripts don't resemble the Japanese ones at all.

Unironically this, I think the real appeal of Trails is just how overly detailed it is in with its writing, whether that it’s in the world-building or character dialogue. The actual overarching story seems to be the most generic JRPG slop imaginable though.

Tales games like Symphonia and Abyss unironically have way better and original plots with actual themes to be resonated with the audience, (Abyss alone with it’s carefully crafted character development and how each party member gets a complete arc to be intertwined with their God General counterpoint mogs the shit of how SC tried to do it) they just don’t have writing autism and aren’t as detailed like Trails is.

The way I like to see it Trails = Whole lot of detail about an ultimately nothing plot
