You'll be thankful for the first stage's difficulty on repeat playthroughs. The junkyard stage is easy as shit and it turns into a mindless slog very quickly.

Try Contra on NES first. It's a lot more manageable. Hard Corps and Contra 3 seemed a lot less insurmountable after Contra and Super C
