Sorta this. I didn't say nigger or faggot or retard, but managed to get consistently chat banned in WoW a few years ago because they'd autoban if enough people reported you and queues to speak to real people were like four or five days long.

The other issue is that nobody's interested in a social experience anymore. If you want to be social in a game, you play it with the three autists you can wrangle on any given night of the week. Nobody talks to anyone, nobody wants to talk to anyone, and social interaction is relegated solely to the people you're most comfortable with. Aww man I've been reading a lot of shit thrown at gw2. Is it really that bad? I played at launch and liked it but didn't really stuck with it since non of my friends played it.
I was hoping to get back into it just to play along the story, do some pugs, and relax. Is it worth it or should I save my time/money?

They're expensive to run catering to both no-lifers, funko-pop collectors and over-thirties that have a handful of hours to play each week.
Also, they need a strong or well-known foundational franchise to build off and we're running out of those.
You also need talented people to design a fuckable beastrace and for some reason many MMO studios suck at this.

I really like GW2 personally. The open world mass events are really great, the mounts are really fun to whip around on, tons of content that's still populated. It's a very comfy and casual game mostly focused on that open world stuff, the high end raid scene is kinda lacking so if you're big on that type of content you run out of stuff to do a bit sooner. The story is honestly mostly mediocre. Has some good stretches and some truly awful moments. It's a shame because I think the actual lore and worldbuilding is really cool, very nice level design and some beautiful vistas, pretty deep history for its cultures etc. Overall I highly recommend. The core game is free but only really gives you a taste. If you really think you'll stick with it long term the $100 Complete Elder Dragon Saga pack is great value. It sometimes even goes on sale for $50. Buying this pack will save you some headache and a lot of money vs buying its content separately.

I played it a bit and enjoyed it until I met another player. This was a furry covered in rainbow VFX.
