Yes, stages get progressively harder. There is also a rank system that is pretty much the same in all Psikyo games. The more power-ups you hold and the longer you survive, the higher your rank goes.
Rank increases both bullet density and speed.

The nooticed Plane Carrier somehow became too easy when it's the 1st stage

this is my least favourite mechanics in any shmups that has it, even more so in Strikers 2 considering it's a Psykio game. Does it reset when you bomb though?

Rank systems can range anywhere from pro-player adaptive difficulty to straight up rigging the game unless you the weird engine tricks to get around it

There's Capcoms 194X series as well. I don't care for it, I'd rather go with Psykio bullets and alternating level orders. Steel Empire is more WWI and it is a horizontal.

Then you have a bunch of more modern day looking military looking ones with helicopters and jets like Raiden, Aero Fighters, and so on.

I like fantasy and sci-fi more, and I like horizontals more.
