Why did Nintendo love working with british devs so much?
>Argonaut, british
>Rareware, also british
Are they anglophiles or something?
I know the obvious answer is that Nintendo just really saw the raw programming talent in Argonaut and raw art/design talent in Rare, but still.

Shitty pc architecture of the 80s made them think there was a kinship.

I guess the brits' work on games for bri'ish computers are probably what piqued Nintendo's interest
Or do you mean SGI machines and how Rare was one of the first game devs to use it, and if so, are you implying SGI machines were shitty? If so, fuck you.

Nintendo is kind of avante guard in dumb ways. Remember that the famicom was the family computer very similaly to the speccy.
There was established IBM and Apple architecture, and then a whole wealth of terrible 3rd party propriety computing schemes. The famicom was the new walled garden in Japan and they wanted to work with likeminded sophists.
Before even caring about programming talent they probably probed into the vision of the people in those ecosystems.

Why do global sales trackers use the UK then extrapolate out for global stats? Something weird happens in the UK.

NES ran on 6502, same as BBC Micro and C64
Jez San from Argonaut co-created PDS assembler for 6502 (and also Z80) which also was compatible with NES. It got quite popular in UK in the late 80s. For example NES Elite was made on it. So were CodeMasters games.
