fucking dog game
i can't believe i spent 50 hours playing this shit only for it to end in "lmao alien lesbians"

fuck essay youtubers
>fuck finnish game devs
that will never happen. having sex would destroy their autism and their bodies and minds couldn't handle the loss of said autism
>>715874775 (OP)Wait, really? The real post all secret ending is lesbians?
>>715874775 (OP)It's not even that it's the fact that it just throws an extremely off putting pro life subplot at you out of nowhere.
It's just anti-abortion propaganda the game.
>>715875191yes
aliens and lesbians
>>715875210>its anti murder of childrenSounds based to me
>>715875258Well damn, I'm glad I dropped this game, then. If this is the payoff for 50 hours of block pushing, then I would have been so disappointed.
>>715875210>promoting not killing babies is propaganda nowYou demons lost
>>715875325>>715875395My intuition tells me that that's a troll post. I doubt this game actually goes in that direction. Especially a game made Finnish anime lovers.
>>715875325>>715875395>prolife tards in the wildholy
how did they let you out of mental asylums?
>>715874775 (OP)>fuck essay youtubersif there's anything I've learned from essay 'tubers is that any game they talk about is only good for that specific format as background noise
just watch the videos and go "huh neat" and move on because 9/10 times the game is dog shit made for 2d4u teenagers
>>715874775 (OP)You mean fuck sokoban
My literal ideal game is Void Stranger but with literally any other core gameplay concept
>>715875470It does, it's a very explicit pro-life message propaganda in the first two endings.
It's funny how this game managed to offend everyone.
The liberals are fuming at it because it's anti-abortion.
The republicans are fuming at it because it's about lesbians.
Lmao
>>715875559It was fine until you realize you have to backtrack through the game 100 times.
Sokoban just overstays its welcome, if the game was shorter it'd be okay but it's never ending.
>>715875590So it's the perfect game for pre-election tourism /v/
She didnt NEED to have such massive tiddies
This is literally oppression of women

Wtf?
>this will probably go down as the only game that has a hard mode specifically because the protagonist is pro-life What the fuck is wrong with Finns?
>>715875590Huh. This actually almost makes me want to finish the game just to see how bad it actually gets. Almost. I didn't reach any ending because I accidentally reset somewhere during the 200th levels, and I didn't want to redo everything again (I know that there are shortcuts of something, but that's still a lot of repetition of okay at best gameplay).
>>715875892my brother in christ
in order to get every ending you need to do those 200 floors like 10 times over even with the shortcuts
kek
>>715875892Resetting is the intended mechanic, you're supposed to do that a lot.
>>715875664The game was supposed to be pretty short at first, the extra shit was feature creep
>>715874775 (OP)Yeah pretty much.
The music is great, the game is shit.
>>715875974I see. Then my mistake was a blessing. It prevented be from getting FOMO'd. The protagonist being a powerful Mary Sue also helped to build my aversion.
>>715876026And? What is the point of your post?
I remember having fun discovering the secrets along with /v/ when the game just came out. Hated the lesbian aliens, and found the pro life message odd in a game about lesbian aliens.
>>715875470 Only character that gets pregnant is through rape, and her lesbian lover/mother loses her uterus due to demon/alien rape, then decides to raise her lesbian lover/daugther's aborted fetus in Finland, raising her into another lesbian. It's all about as tasteful as it sounds.
>>715876136>And? What is the point of your post? That you'd be told "uhh lmao you did this wrong go try again fuck you" if you reached floor 200 without resetting.
>>715876224...THIS is what all those countless post-release threads were praising???
>>715876351>all those countless post-release threads it was just like 3 schizos
>>715876351Not really. The game has a lot of hidden stuff and such. It was just fun threads of people figuring stuff out. It's not like back then we knew that'd be the result of our findings.
>>715876224I have to wonder, is Zero Ranger just like that, but with shmup gameplay instead of Sokoban?
>>715876764The story in Zeroranger is completely different.
The only character stuff IIRC is that the two ships are piloted by sisters but it doesn't really matter for understanding the story.
If you are interested in an actually good box pushing game without a bullshit story or lesbians, play Patrick's Parabox.
>>715876764Never played zeroranger. But people on those threads said the aliens were the same people. The very end has some aliens that I had never seen show up in a way that seemed to imply I should know who they were. The game also actually turns into a shmup at this point, too.
>>715876224>lover/daughterCan you not see how unhinged that sounds? Is it just not possible in your mind that it might only be motherly love? Is every female relationship sexual to you?
i really liked the game until the big puzzle at the end for the secret ending
im not planning a route and memorizing how many locusts to take or skip, when to dump them.
honestly a really cool idea, just not built up enough. they just dump this really tedious thing on you when the base game feels satisfying enough, who is going to fucking bother?
>>715876960Tell that to the devs, not me.
>>715876960NTA, but the game is made in an anime style and is made by Finns. I really wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't misinterpreting.
>>715876960that's literally what it is though
>medieval woman keeps rape baby
>this is "explicit pro-life message propaganda"
huh?
>>715876906You mean SHOVE IT!
>>715874775 (OP)Are they at least futa?
I'm glad none of you faggots will play game of the decade.
>>715878031KYS nigger. Go ahead and report me. Tired of faggots ruining this site.
>>715877845She technically didn't. She got an alien abortion, but her mum kept the fetus and raised her as her own in Finland.
>>715878393But I don't understand how it's pro-life propaganda. Am I missing something or is it just troglodytes making a mountain out of molehills?
>>715878653Eh, there's some "I'm glad you were born" drama near the end, but it's not as if the game downright says you shouldn't have an abortion. I can see the events having a pro-life element.
>>715878091What are you even implying?
>>715878653I wanted to say you might not be chronically online enough to understand but you are here...
So maybe you're just too dumb instead.
>>715878774Yeah there's certainly an element or two that can be interpreted as a message, but to have a meltdown because a game did something you don't agree with at one point, is just 70IQ Twittard behavior.
>>715878943Yeah it's probably the former. I should know better than to click ragebait politics threads.
>>715876981i wonder what on earth you are talking about and if you have any idea if you're even near the ending because i don't remember having to do this specifically
>>715878774So I might have been sort of right in
>>715875470 after all. It makes sense to get an abortion from rape, put it's also unreasonable to hold a child's origin against it.
>It's about lesbians
Tell me you didn't play the game without telling me you didn't play the game.
This shit is just Fast and the Furious - It's all about fambily
>>715875892Anon, you barely even started the game. There are multiple protagonists. The game is LONG
>>715879280Well, everything bad that happens is because of the pregnant character's bad choices. It's not saying "don't get an abortion" but it's certainly showing it in a bad light. It's pretty reasonable to take it as "pro-life", even if there's pausible deniability.
for me it's Unstopping
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olORq9nrPns
>>715879446that's an incredibly shallow look at the events anon
>>715879446>>715879280Also, it's not a rape baby. Daugther fucks a dude, dude rapes the mom. Daugther gets pregnant, mom raises the child.
Mom then comes out of the closes, same as the grown up fetus. It's right the love between mom/daugther is mostly familial, since she was happy to take the prince dick. Though it is kinda implied mom was in love with daugther near the end, but again, pausible deniability. Maybe it's just easy to misinterpret because of Finland.
And for the record, they're not literally mom/daugther. Girl is a princess, MC/Mom is her full time nanny. She basically raised her on her own, dead queen and all.
Why is everyone saying the game is about lesbians? Gray is ostensibly a lesbian but the woman she was supposedly in love with never even appears, it's not relevant to the story at all.
>>715879452for me it's Unstopping with lyrics

>>715876351Let this be a warning to you about Blue Prince too. Instead of retarded fetishes there is just nothing of substance at all. Puzzle gamers have objectively garbage taste. Their brains are wired for instant gratification from soolving poozles without any regard or care for the holistic experience. Put another way, the requisite autism to enjoy and solve copious amounts of puzzles is at odds with the capability to perceive and absorb a longform narrative experience. Hence why puzzlers are so easily influenced by music.
This is the most schizo thread I've ever seen for this game and that's actually quite an achievement. Congrats OP and also pills
>>715879692Gray goes out of her way to date a guy in the modern world (and drops him because she's autistic about muh mission), I don't know why people are calling her gay

>>715879753What about Lorelei and the laser eyes?
It's basically the opposite of
>Their brains are wired for instant gratification from soolving poozles without any regard or care for the holistic experience. And focused on the experience/performance it puts on screen as a whole rather than the puzzles that it's made of.

>>715880014Gray wanted a father figure for lily because she thought she was getting out of control
regardless gray is neither lesbian nor straight, she's the human avatar of a goddess that could birth life by herself, she has no need for partners and only "loves" lilith as a daughter.
>>715879753>Blue PrinceI've heard that it's like Outer Wilds, but worse. Something to do with events being random instead of predictable, but I really have no idea. With this said, I only truly care about gameplay. If the story ends up bad, then I can handle it. But the thing about Void Stanger is that the gameplay is only a bit less dogshit than the story (or at least the little of the story that I saw) and it tries to carry itself almost entirely on the mystery aspect. In the end, I stopped playing because I wasn't having fun.

yea I "reached the end"
>>715874775 (OP)>lesbiansArguably Gray might be gay, but even then it could just be her latching onto what she lacked (the queen with an actual fully functioning female human body capable of conceiving children). Otherwise I saw Void Stranger as a story about parenthood and parent-children relations, it'd be a whole other layer of reading into weird shit if we assumed Gray and Lily/any of the Void Lords Add birthed were into each other like that rather than as just family.
I'm open to being proven wrong on this though, I guess. I mean, I was dense enough to completely ignore the implications that Johann sexed Gray and might have done so non-consensually with Lily (rather than Lily becoming suicidal simply because she realised Johann's true nature after the fact) on first pass.

>>715881190train yourself to act on first impulse
open your program of choice as soon as you are able and then just look at something that needs working on
>>715880532Also regarding the other topic raised in this thread, I think it's hilarious to read Void Stranger as pro-life just because a protagonist happened to make a choice that on a surface level reading *could* imply such a message. In the story, it's shocking in the moment, because the options she had fucking sucked, and it becomes tragic later when she's shown to be fucking miserable and aimless in her later life. As an onlooker judging the people who see it as pro-life, it just seems like they picked the most simplistic reading possible of "this character is the protagonist (up to this point), surely everything she does exemplifies moral virtue and goodness as dictated by the writer, as is in no way merely a reflection of the character that we're learning about as we go". With the full context, Void Lord Add is kinda fucked up!

>>715880131Blue Prince has nothing in common with Outer Wilds besides its utilization of music. Ironically proving my point about how much puzzle gamers subconsciously weight music. Outer wilds is a game about exploration, natural forces, and discovery. Movement is at the core of Outer Wilds. Blue prince is just pulling a slot machine until the reels line up. Its back half is a singular mechanic shamelessly used over and over again.

That's one of the parts I liked here is that it's a pretty okay game in its own right with the sokoban on top of the other stuff, pony island just felt like only the other stuff without a real game attached.
>NoitaPlayed, that's another cool one yeah.
>Baba is YouEhhh I mean yeah technically breaking the game is part of the game but it doesn't really have any schizo stuff like there is no story in the game as far as I'm aware and baba never just like pops out of your screen after you break a level and goes YOU SHOULDNT HAVE DONE THAT and then the game crashes and you restart it and you're in some new secret level and the rules all changed.
It's just kind of basic puzzle game with cool core mechanic.
>Cruelty SquadHmm really?

>>715875892>how bad it actually getsI genuinely don't understand why people get upset at Gray for not wanting to kill a baby when her entire fucking thing is motherhood, surrogacy, legacy, and being drawn into an endless cycle of guilt and suffering that extends to all of her children because of the barriers and bad decisions she's made that inevitably hurt them. Lillie getting butthurt about Gray an erotic tiger mom with massive tits is funny, but entirely understandable when you realize Gray's been grooming Lillie both as a replacement Lily and training her for most of her life for her inevitable return to the Void.
An overbearing parent drowning in trauma over the past wanting what's best for her children and raising them to follow in her footsteps, but driving them away hits painfully close to home. Lillie reconciling with the memory of Gray made me bawl like a bitch.

>>715883313Withering Rooms kind of.
It has some schizo stuff in it but it's not as crazy as the stuff in this game obviously, I don't think there are many games with that much fuckery.
>>715885296I'll think about it.
>>715884715Really?
Also never heard of anything like that from those games, I just thought they were regular RPGs, well "regular" considering the content but not with like any secret game breaking shenanigans.
>>715874775 (OP)The voided segment is the only good thing about this game. Everything is down hill afterwards.
>>715885110The human story of Gray, Lily, and Lillie is arguably the first layer to the game anyway. The meatiest for sure, but Cif's route and DIS route both require more spelunking through the Void and understanding Add and her children in order to beat them. They both tie into each other thematically, but to an extent you do need to care about the story to actually complete the game since DIS route requires knowing the the order of the Void Lords and their associated agents and you'd only take mental notes about shit like that if you're fully engrossed in trying to uncover everything about the game by that point.
Also I wanna fuck loli Lillie and I wish Gray was my momwife.
>>715883785>Hmm really? bI thought it was kinda just a level based fps... I guess I'll take a look.It is a level based FPS, but there are a lot of secrets. And you change the game difficulty by dying. You aren't really "breaking" the game at any point, but the world of the game is pretty much composed of schitzo shit.
>>715885910There is one specific action that you do exactly once in each game, in one way it's just a way to avoid a super strong boss, in the second game it's the last step of a series of specific steps you need to take to get what used to be the true ending, before the third DLC added another one.
A similarity it has with BS is that it involves looping the game. You get an ending, you loop around, you do other things to get another ending. It gets faster every time because of how strong you get and how familiar you are with everything.
>>715886275>in one way*in the first game
>with BS*with VS
holy shit I can't type
>getting upset about 5 minutes worth of story in 50 hours of 10/10 puzzles
Man, abortion lovers really are mentally ill, huh?
Anyway, the only decent puzzle game I've played recently is Type Help, which is all story but I had fun and it wasn't too stupid. Whatever you do, don't play Blue Prince, it's complete dogshit.
>>715886018I guess cool for people who like things like this, but to me, this sounds like abysmal dogshit. Especially since I'm not a woman, so those themes of motherhood are completely alien to me. What I liked about The Talos Principle is that you didn't need to care about there story or read the logs, it was just there. Same with The Witness. That's how puzzle games should be.
>>715886275I see, it doesn't look like something I'd be into but I guess I can give it a try.
>>715886489You don't need to force yourself if you don't want to, many people like it for the characters in a similar way people like Cif and Bee.
>>715886448You don't have to be a chick to identify with basic themes of the human condition like loss.
I thought the story was mostly boring and too anime tropey, but all the actual game stuff was fantastic. I don't agree that you have to be into the story to beat the game, but it's occasionally emotional, and parts are well done. Either way, it only amounts to a tiny fraction of the total playtime.
>>715883313>schizogames Contact on the Nintendo DS.
Made by Grasshopper Manufacture, it's very meta.
>>715886434Every cutscene is about 5 minutes, actually. And my main problem is the generally uninteresting nature of the story (and, as it turns out lesbians. Not a fan of yuri), as well as the repetitive nature of the gameplay.
>>715886730>but all the actual game stuff was fantasticLike replaying the game 10 times? There is only so much "Sokoban, but slightly more creative" that my body can handle, especially with how complex the later solutions get, and DOUBLE especially since there is no undo, you fuck up - you die (and there is a life system).
>>715880532Think Lillie's version of the DIS route perfectly represents that theme of parenthood and parent-child relationships, since you have a daughter of Add and a daughter of Gray sharing a perfect childhood memory together. While Gray was an imperfect mother to Lillie, the warm and loving home she had still managed to carve out for her despite being a stranger in a strange, new world shows the deepest extent of love and sacrifice she ultimately made for Lillie, despite the reasons why she had chose to save her in the first place. In a way, seeing how Add's change into Gray had affected her so deeply, it's sort of like how an older half-sibling sees their once-neglectful parent treat their youngest sibling far better, I think.
>>715886448Void Stranger is more of an adventure game first and a puzzle game second. Besides, the relationship between parent and child and everything inbetween is universal. Might wanna consider playing Baba is You or Paquerette Down the Bunburrow or Stephen's Sausage Roll, instead anon.
>>715879893I got most of the way through Lorelei before quitting because I just wasn't having much fun. Lots of little niggles like the tedious way the house is arranged so you have to keep checking the fucking map to remember where the door you needed was, it's like RE1's mansion but you're constantly backtracking. Then you factor in the awful movement speed, even with coffee which is also an annoyance, and I just stopped playing after getting to the middle of the red maze and never opened it again.
Maybe there are some cool puzzles that open up in the last 10%, but I was getting kind of sick of not finding anything neat that was hiding as set dressing.
>>715886926>and DOUBLE especially since there is no undo, you fuck up - you die (and there is a life system).git gud shitter
you can solve it all in your head before comitting a single action, if you can't you're just not cut out for this
>>715886926>especially since there is no undo, you fuck up - you die (and there is a life system).Beating the game the first time unlocks the infinite lives glyph, retard. Even more than that, getting past level 200 without being in a void state reveals how to manipulate the Void. Death is entirely inconsequential at worst or a mechanic to manipulate the number of lives you have in order to traverse the Void at best.
>>715886926>Like replaying the game 10 times? You don't have to replay the game at all. You might have to replay a few levels, but there's lots to do.
I'm sorry you barely made it down 200 floors and gave up, man. You missed out on the best game released 2 years ago, but I wouldn't worry about it too much, you would've just gotten filtered later anyway. Not every game is made for you, and I'm very thankful of that.
>>715887010>Void Stranger is more of an adventure game first and a puzzle game second. No it's fucking not. Outer Wilds is an adventure game first and a puzzle game second. You don't know what you are talking about.

>>715887315The sokoban puzzles are there so you're rewarded with more lore or plot which will reveal more puzzles to you. The entire appeal of the game the first go around should be to understand why this big-breasted titty wizard is entering a big gaping hole in the ground since literally nothing is told to you in the beginning. From the outset, it's an adventure first and a puzzle game second, but all the rewards for uncovering more lore is more puzzles.
Really, if you just want puzzles, just use this glyph, anon. EX mode should be up your alley.
>>715887202>You missed out on the best game released 2 years agoMust have been a dry year for gaming. And looking at my library, it was, so fair enough.

>>715887158, and trying it out in the game.

As for the plot itself, I didn't care for it from the start since that demon princes who casually harms guards and it's played as a joke was going to be important. But when it turned out that Gray as an ultra powerful fighter who insta-gibs bandits, I lost all interest in the plot.

Even more to the point, even though Gray is an amazing fighter, physical combat is virtually useless in the game itself until you get to the boss fights, which still rely less on strength since everything in the Void is insanely powerful and will instakill Gray.

There was a moment in the DLC when I was chilling with the owls and they all died and I got kicked out of the sim, and instantly all the pieces clicked in my head and I knew how to get past the fireplace on the next run. In Outer Wilds there are a couple of those moments. VS has about a dozen of them.

Most of the Outer Wilds navigation is tedium, returning to a place you've already been because last run you didn't have enough time to finish what you were doing or figured it out too late in the cycle. Anodyne's postgame (the first game, I never played the second), once you realize the implications of the final "weapon" upgrade. The execution is a bit awkward but I can forgive it considering the game was originally made in flash by college students. Both Void Stranger and Bunburrows have a bit of Anodyne's DNA in them.

I even find it easier than drill since parries mean you don't have to get dangerously close to get high multiplier with melee kills
B is generally easier to survive or score with since its weapons have more spread and you can pussy out with the charge shot, but C has more potential

though frankly I wonder if its just a matter of solving the puzzles properly you never really end up dying without knowledge ahead of time (ie you're about to slip into a pit so you do the little scamper animation) but maybe this changes later.
Also most importantly of all
>SYSTEM ERASURE
>PLEASE FINISH ZERO RANGER
>WHERE IS BLACK ONION?
>BRING IT SEPTEMBER!
Its been long enough now I hope. White Vanilla and Green Orange are great. Black Onion is supposed to be twice as in depth and with more secrets/story than Green Orange TLB/True Ending. SO lets hope it actually comes to fruition. I get skipping a year or two thanks to Void Stranger development but come on now...its been awhile.
>>715902601Take screenshots of interesting things.
>>715902601Just solve the puzzles and take a break every time you feel any burnout coming you way.
Its a long game if you want to do everything, so its best to not try and rush through it.

I sure do love video games.
>>715874775 (OP)Did anyone notice in the Super eyepatch wolf video he cheated in hard mode? He entered lillie's route with infinite locusts and all 3 burdens. What a pussy. accept that hardmode will be hard because you grabbed the burdens in normal you faggot.
>>715880131Blue Prince is a meta puzzler just like Void Stranger. But it's also a roguelite, so whether or not you can see/solve a given puzzle depends on RNG.
>>715903748No, I didn't notice this. Because I don't watch fagtubers.
Just watched Super Eyepatch Wolf's vid. Now I'm gonna pretend I played the game and figured it all out myself and act elitist towards anyone who doesn't like the game or is struggling with it.
>>715903826I check if every essay tuber cheats in puzzle games cause it exposes them as brainlets.

Eyepatch Wolf is really stupid. He's highlighting basic game design (e.g., gradually introduce mechanics to the player) as earth-shattering revelations.

>>715903523>faggots afraid of hypothetical parental responsibilityI know nothing about this game, explain.
>>715913368The game has what can be construed as a main character making a choice that is "pro-life". This character is from the medieval era.
Somehow this ruins the game and gives it a pro-life message.
>>715883313Kreisreise, it's not that cryptic but at times you have to do insane things to make progress, like phasing through solid platforms by crouching or using troll physics to jump through a barrier backwards
>>715913368 main character is the matron of a bratty princess that needed no man, mc made a deal with a not-griffith character to marry her, they fucked and the princess got pregnant, then shit happens and the matron has to rescue the princess. after many trials she reaches the end of the maze and the ones who took the princess revealed to the mc that she was pregnant, and she has to choose between her or the newborn
the captors prohibited the mc to come back to the dungeon ever again, so she took care of the newborn as her daughter and train her so she can save her mother
>>715902601Don't worry about dying, just eat the fruit the first time. It rewards you for getting good, but unless you have a 200 IQ then or cheat then you will probably mess up and die towards the last couple floors.
Also I recommend not looking up solutions and playing around the mechanics as much as possible. It rewards you for exploring too.
Also play the game as blind as possible.
