>>715883323It's not like a majority of their IPs are usable in this day and age without full on overhauls of their gameplay since they were intended for arcades or to extend rental times by forcing repeated retries. Many of them would only sell for like $20 if they released a brand new game like Golden Axe or Altered Beast. Only nostalgiafags would get them and they'd be overshadowed by so many other games. The fact they're even attempting a AAA Crazy Taxi is beyond me because that entire game concept is literal free update minigame-tier as shown with Days Gone.
Ecco, Space Channel 5, Phantasy Star, Billy Hatcher, Sonic, and Jet Set Radio are the only brands I can think of that would still work as full priced titles if they made modern continuations, and even then I'm iffy on SC5 since Taiko struggles to sell full priced games all the time.
Nights for example I can never see selling at full price again, Outrun and Daytona selling at full price would be beyond delusional, Fantasy Zone and Space Harrier would be lucky if they'd even sell for $20, and so on.
It'll be interesting to see how they tackle this "Super Game" concept because I just don't see how throwing AAA money at Crazy Taxi works. Golden Axe would basically be unrecognizable if it had a modern game because it wouldn't be anything like the original games and I'd expect something more like the 3D Castlevanias or God of War.
