>>715891214It's hard to describe it as a city builder sim. It's closer to a base builder where you get your Sims (Pawns) from random things happening. Which is basically the whole game. Random events take place that are meant to test your people, and random outcomes happen. Not to be too pessimistic but certain """"random"""" outcomes are entirely unavoidable unless you use cheesy mechanics. (Which this is proven by using things that would allow you to manipulate outcomes. Like reviving pawns only for someone else to instantly die in the same encounter continuously until the encounter is over.)
It's fun if you're a simulator loving autist that's focused on the story aspect of how your colony grows and deals with events. Sort of like xcom where you always have one or two guys you're attached to and you rely on them so heavily, only for something you didn't calculate to murder one of them and you're left empty inside. There's a lot to put your pawns through and dlcs add a ton of flavor to the world. It's also extensively moddable. So once you have a taste, you can make your experience even better.
