Is FF9 actually worth playing? It looks like shit.

It's a slow burn. Disc 1-2 will feel painful if you're not liking the characters. The end of Disc 2 and start of Disc 3 is when the game gets good.

FF9 is the one Final Fantasy game in which everything is solid from beginning to end. Story, characters, music, setting, everything is just solid and there is no small or big flaw.

If it's one thing I have a issue with. It's the difficulty. Genuinely brain dead. Most FF games are but this one is soooo boring. Hell the only buff worth anything is Haste, only debuff that works is Slow, and most battles become Steal spams before you can fight. More so with the HD version where you can spam Trance all the time now. You'd have to be very dedicated to the charm to the game to forgive the fact that this is barely a RPG and maybe more about the minigames.
