You're not alone judging from some of the modding stuff I've seen. There's a big WIP one adding a bunch of cool animations that looks promising

That's retarded, unless everyone around you the ever illusive "modern audience" I can't see anyone not get the appeal of Blackwater Simulator

this is literally an autistic disease in which you just stick to some kind of activism for no reason. (there are medical reasons )

Jagged Alliance 2

Blue Gender aired on TV in my country around the time I first played this (early 2000s) and it tickled my autism big time, i haven't seen anything like it as a teen. I listened the shit out of the soundtrack and I went full edgekino with my JA2 headcanons while playing Combat/Exploration tracks in Winamp from the BG OST in the background. I even experimented with replacing the soundtrack in the game's folder in 1.13 with different shit like the OG Rainbow Six soundtrack, going for different vibes.

I started playing JA2 in the winter break in 2003 and finished it in 2017, John's email about "going back to the land of the Great Lakes where the people would never think about electing a woman as president" got me laffin so hard (the lefty meltdown was still ongoing after Hillary got BTFO the year prior), one of my biggest vidya laffs in fact, elevated by the context.

The speech my IMP merc gave in the end about going through all the shit throughout the campaign making him feel like "I gave birth to him" made me tear up a little. A beautiful, non-cringe 4th wall break at the very end.

Kino game, many modern devs could learn a thing or two from it

How's JA1 compared to 2? My autism won't let me jump right to 2 without trying 1.

Look at some videos, I don't know how fun it would be to actually play with all the limitations. I had fun reading the Alumni page in JA2 about the JA1 mercs though. One of the cutest, most waifu tier mercs got shot dead near her apartment by a mercenary groupie/stalker, while carrying groceries, I remember being bummed out about it but it would have hit harder if I had played the first game (JA2 was already ancient in 2003 when I first played it, I was playing Max Payne 2 and BF2 in the next couple years, shit was really wild).

I really want to play this game but whenever i play it I just give up. couldnt tell you why
Tell me a great story about JA2 that will force my apathy to the side.

>nobody can understand the appeal of enjoying a great game that's markedly more replayable than most things out there

I don't get it
