Circle enemy is too intuitive.
The first enemy type should tell you what to do on the screen instead of forcing people to read instructions outside of the game.

I would prefer having a button to start the encounter due to the triangle enemy, I spam space out of habit and just skipped through whatever it wanted.

In general, the game feels a bit too barebones to hold much interest. Is the point to just fill your screen up with annoying shit? Do the eyes ever do anything?

It's Ai slop I collaged don't be fooled, I've kind of tried to transition into actual pixel art lately, but thank you.

The eyes never do anything they were just meant as a way to keep track of how many mazes you've completed. I get what you mean about a button to start the encounter, maybe it just needs a little ///ENCOUNTER/// sequence or something to condition you to press the button once to see what's coming. I like the idea of the eyes actually doing something though, maybe a shop at each goal or something.

I guess my intention was just an idle game really. Just kind of see how far you can get in an endless maze. For some reason I've been fascinated with making endless maze games, here's another.

Yeah, after a second run I think my big complaint would probably be the circles being too harsh and the squares being too trivial. I think you'd want both options to be on the same level of interaction, either both can be breezed past or both are a more difficult minigame.

There are margins I could adjust. They both have random difficulties set to them, so certain squares take a faster pace of presses to get through. I agree though it needs work, I think the fix might be widening the window in which you can succeed on a circle, but also speeding them up in general so it's not as much of a hinderance. Thanks for the feedback

For me, I think the fun of mazes is in remembering them. Imagine a massive maze, multiple layers deep, with locked doors you have to back-track to. Maybe give the player a map drawing tool rather than doing it for them. But I think for games like that to be compelling, you need things like stories to give people a reason to press on through the maze.

I don't think the first person view adds much, it's easier to navigate via the mini-map. And it took me your second game to realise I could hold the button to move much faster, instead of tapping like an idiot.

This kind of ai slop pixel art pisses me off, not because of the use of ai but because of the random jpeg artifacts and uneven pixel sizes. It's like an even stupider evolution of what I already hate about (some) modern pixel art. Constrain your shit to a pixel grid and use a proper limited palette, I'm sure stable diffusion has a tool for that by now.

Yeah lock and key would do a lot for it I'm sure and yeah when I play I'm just looking at the minimap not gonna lie.

That's a really cool idea though of drawing your own map in a gigantic maze. I really like that, I might run with that with something different. What should the setting be, like a dungeon with a torch light? I have some art I could work on for a different idea that hasn't gone too far of a Toejam and Earl clone. It's still got that Ai dithering on most of it and what not but I have aseprite I know how to make true pixel art, converting is just a time consuming step.

I just like playing with art really. I wish the coding made more sense to me, but I'm a slow learner and it's complicated.

Yeah these were before I figured out how to do uniform pixel sizes so they need some work, but I've got a ton of assets from it still that are all kind of the same genre of medieval fantasy..

I wanted to feel creative today, that's kind of what urged me to make the post. Taking your idea is kind of the opposite of creative, but I think I might make something with it for real I'm getting kinda hyped on the idea.

Do you prefer a fatty instead?
