I feel like calling it bfx is not doing it any favors, but I guess a non "mainline" title again would have been disappointing to both the bottomline and consumer expectations. I can't help but feel any new bf is doa unfortunately, I'd love to be wrong but I bet this isn't even as popular as 2042. I can't see any way this game shows me something that will get me to jump in at full price launch again

Why do people still desperately cling to franchises like Battlefield?
Electronic Arts does nothing but chase the bottom line and they will do the barest of minimums when making their games, just to wring out the most amount of cash from its paye- sorry, players.

Your nostalgia shouldn't cloud your judgement this hard, don't touch anything by modern EA, as it's all garbage.

Gonna say it, I actually don't mind unlocked weapons. I wish snipers were exclusive to recon, but the rest I don't really give a fuck about since they're all different flavors of 'gun that shoots fast' anyway. They could just as easily make long range (>4x) scopes exclusive to recon and call it a day, nothing wrong with an assault that has a bolt action with ironsights or something

2042 was probably the biggest disappointment for me in gaming history. I feel nothing for the Battlefield franchise anymore.

for me it was the doubling down on specialists and shitting on the legacy of BF3 and BC2. there were other retarded decisions that they doubled down on but the moment they shat on their own legacy, it was so fucking over

Unlocked weapons aren't the problem but it's a fundamental issue of the game being designed around a live service system that caters to the warzone crowd where paid-for skins reign supreme every new season. They're the symptom of a larger problem IMHO

There's no replacement for the complexity of battlefields group combat when you had a relatively evenly matched game and it really clicked. Hell Let loose is too slow - no other game even comes close.
