I felt physically uncomfortable from cringe when Rouge catches one of Shadow's crying tears with her cheek by flying into it at the end.
That isn't "pretty" or artful. That's just kind of awkward and nasty.

Also what the hell happened to VO direction ever since Forces? It really hasn't been good lately. RCS had a bunch of clunkers in Forces and in Frontiers he also sounded all wrong to me, and other characters merely sounded passable. In Shadow Gens it felt like the characters almost don't speak up at times.

Is Ian just given access to the VA directing sessions huh? Is he just that fat nerd who sits in the booth explaining lore unnecessarily to the VA who doesn't even know what the story is about to begin with, huh? Is he just a fat fuck sitting there chewing on his doughnuts and playing Yu-Gi-Oh cards while slurping into the microphone as he tells them "It's in the can."?

Pontaff's stories are mediocre as fuck, weird edgy shit that doesn't fit the games are shoved in at random times (like Eggman going "I'll get fat by eating your BLACK HEARTS!" out of nowhere) and the characterization was very poor, just look at Tails for his games
Flynn on the other hand, cannot for the fucking life of him STOP REFERENCING OLD MATERIAL. He lacks the creative writing ability to build his own story and themes without constantly throwing in your face "WOAH THIS IS JUST LIKE THAT TIME WITH DARK GAIA/WOAH THIS IS LIKE PERFECT CHAOS/ WITHOUT THE TIME STONES!?/ AHA, I FOUND YOU, FAKER!!!" and it's extremely obnoxious. His stories are also mediocre nothing burgers that do the bare minimum of presenting the illusion of "character growth" and "change"

Honestly they both suck. Bring back Akinori Nishiyama and Shiro Maekawa. They aren't perfect but they understand the characters and themes even if flawed at times and know how to do entertaining stories

Badly Nosehair sucks but Pontac and Graff never used ironic internet culture in their writing. I'm not sure why they always get associated with that. They also regularly get accused of "meta" writing while also being criticized of not being familiar enough with the series (as if that makes any sense). I assume it's just children using words they don't know the meaning to.

You could also make a point that Pontac and Graff never actually had any real input on the actual storylines featured in their games, they just wrote/localized cutscene dialogue. The biggest issue with those two is that most of their attempts at comedic writing simply wasn't funny at always felt "first draft"-tier at best. I'm not sure if Flynn is a real improvement since I end up rolling my eyes just as much at his attempts at "fanservice".
