Will Minecraft 1.21.6+ be viewed similarly to 1.9, i.e a community split? I feel like there's no salvaging Minecraft's gameplay progression anymore. The game is so radically different (and not in a good way) compared to the 2010s.

It just feels like a completely different game, and not in a good way.

"Serious" Minecraft is the most distorted gameplay in the world. The XP and gear progression is entirely balanced around building mob farms. "Midgame" flight is a big who cares compared to all of this which can be done by midgame
>all serious players have automatic skeleton farms for infinite arrows and infinite enchantments
>villager slaves for important enchantments
>iron farms to completely trivialize anything lower than diamond
>duping to trivialize everything else
>fully automated food machines now transfer bones from your skeleton farm, turn them into bone meal, fertilize your crops, harvest those crops, and craft them into foods (also send huge amounts of food to your villagers for emerald farming)
>fully automated wood and cobble farms too
>infinite smelting with a lava drip + hopper setup, now self-sorting with copper golems
And this is just scratching the surface. I'm not even discussing how the fastest way to get diamonds in early game is to go hit shipwrecks and buried treasure.

I know I always have the option not to use it, but what about multiplayer? I have to make a compact with all of my friends to not use broken annoying mechanics? I have to police the wider community? Another thing: I fucking detest these shitty new skins. Steve was blue-eyed, but had an ambiguous skin tone and dark hair. Just as every mob is hermaphroditic and genderless he was supposed to be a composite of "every man". Just some dude. Some guy. Could be anyone. They intentionally threw out Steve and Black Steve for that reason. And now we have 15 different diverse skins for every xer/xem this side of the Mississippi. The game already had a split at 1.7.3, I don't think this will change much.
If anything it may disecentivize players from speed running the game to get Elytras. That being said though post adventure update really demonstrated the devs do not care at all about minecraft's progression at all
