You know, if they just went with a less standard Star Wars story, it could've been way better. Have Rey suck with the force and good with a lightsaber or vice versa. Have Finn make up the difference, either he's a regular guy that can wield it or he's in tune with the force but being a grunt for most of his life he's not able to use it correctly like he can a blaster. Have them grow from these weaknesses. Just do your own thing instead of combining the weak parts of the OT and worst parts of the prequels.
