I like steam because I can add pirated games to it and play them over steam link. They also made a bunch of games playable on Linux.

Even that isn't really a negative for Steam because Steam gets far more games brought to PC as a result. It's not a fault with Steam so much as it's a fault with garbage devs and publishers who mandate it. You can put games on Steam completely DRM free, but a lot of devs and publishers opt not to because they want it.
