Stealth archer is such a gay playstyle and I can't believe people do it, especially in a game like Skryim

None of the combat is any fun either way, so people naturally lean towards the playstyle that lets you bypass it.

its the proper way to play as dictated by the mechanics though? why would you intentionally play suboptimally? thats like playing minesweeper with out the little flags, or pinball with only the left paddle.

Stealth archer is popular because it multiplies damage and counterbalances the massive scaling enemies do against the player
What are you gonna do? Play Destruction where hakf the perks are about slightly consuming less magicka as if that ever mattered after 3 hours?
The whole game is complete shit

The entire level up and perk system is so fucking trashy and dull and no mods have really bothered to even try and make it interesting and when the melee combat is also shitty and dull and magic outside duel wielding is also lame and shit, you're left with archery and the best way to max out damage is by crouching. Skyrim fucking blows.

I just spec into paralysis magic and beat everything to death with a mace like a true Dragonborn would.

I replayed it recently and went all-in on Destruction and Conjuration. Melee feels terrible in Skyrim, like actually worse than Morrowind. Stealth archer is genuinely boring as shit and was an easy skip too. Unfortunately depending on how much you like exploring, it's possible to get completely bored of the game's combat well before you're even close to the end.
Any way you look at it, Skyrim's systems aren't really that interesting.

You can play the game how you want its an RPG, (just about) I've done plenty of playthroughs with different playstyles, stealth archery / stealth is fun if you wanted to do a thief run where its all about not being seen. I've also done warrior / nord playthroughs and magic too, the only issue is the game doesn't really have that many viable builds and because the leveling requires you to actually level skills so if you actually want to get to the ebony warrior you've got to become a jack of all trades build which sucks.

it's just a very effective playstyle is all. you can do what you want. personally I always rush alchemy, smithing, and enchanting so I can get a custom armor set that gives infinite mana for the destruction school and throw fireballs and ice spikes everywhere.

The best legends are those hidden in mystery. Clearing out an entire bandit camp with the survivors saying they never saw their attacker is much more interesting than a gay nord charging in with sword and shield

You can't fix it without anything short of an entire revision of enemy scaling, removal of difficulty modes and revision of the perk trees

Bethesda game are only interesting if you abuse their broken ass mechanics. This is why everyone who plays Morrowind ends up with the boots of blinding speed and 10,000 alchemy potions

I remember playing Skyrim on "Adept" and when a higher level enemy spawned in a cave or encampment that enemy could easily kill me in 2-3 hits and had so much health I could hit him forever without him dying... everyone end up being forced to play Stealth Archer because the game is broken.

Needing to aim and stay hidden adds the smallest bit of fun to Skyrim's bland combat, not to mention the insane damage multiplier you get, that I can't blame anyone for gravitating towards such a play style. Bethesda for some reason decided that Skyrim had to be a game about killing lots of enemies, when they should've focused on the world instead.
