I think it was the tonal whiplash that killed it for me. My experience to that point was that NL was a smart guy playing smartly, but seeing him play something else and flop around like a wet fish just left him looking like a retard who was acting smart.
It's like that guy who's really good at baseball, but then you see him playing soccer and he can't even pass a ball. You assume he'd be good because he has the basic reflexes from one game, but in another context you realise that it's not that he's good at sports, it's just that he grinded baseball all day and he's pathetic.
NL is like that with intelligence. It's not that he's smart, he just acts smart, and has an autistic focus on a single field that tricks you into thinking he might know what he's talking about. It probably stems from narcissism, he's the same kind of person as Pirate Software, he just has the basic intelligence to probably admit fault even if he doesn't think he's in the wrong.
