i really didnt like how u had to grind to unlock variety in a run. by the time the item pool is large enough to feel different ur already burnt out on the game

>devs split into two teams
>those who make new game and those who make more dead cells
>dead cells team gets tired of dead cells
>makes new game but doesnt join the other team
>game doesnt sell due to bad luck
>blame dead cell for some reason and give it bad updates to drive people to other game
what is this mental retardation? They didnt even get new hires. These are the same people who have been making this game for 8 years. why disrespect their life's work? They could have joined the other team that was working on another sucessful game.

main guy responsible for designing the core gameplay loop and action of dead cells didn't work on the other games that's why the aren't nearly as good
@deepnightfr

They didn't split into teams they split into entire companies. The main company stopped working on the game after 2 years and a second company was created to develop the game which is where most of the actual devs moved to.

When the first company shut down dead cells there were only three people at the first company that even worked there when Dead Cells was made and none of them were in senior positions all the founders had already left.

i've never seen a dev that hated their own game more than dead cells devs and i quit during the early access era
i wish all devs who make their game intentionally worse to have a lego piece stuck under their toenails

It works for Isaac because with items stacking up a large item pool makes every run somewhat different but doesn't feel like it's hampering you, getting a mediocre item is still getting a bonus. In likes of Dead Cells where you can only carry a few items, you will likely just go for the same builds every time so most of the unlocks just start getting in the way.
Dead Cells would've worked better as a classic arcade game, something closer to Shovel Knight, rather than going for the roguelike meme, especially considering that it tried to go for the hardcore approach.

same lmao, I had my steam account in argentina and these type of games were cheap as fuck, I got both of them for like 1-2 bucks each and only bothered with Dead Cells before they bloated the game.

Fun core gameplay held back by being a rogue lite. The game would have benefitted from actual level design instead of being randomly generated

Honestly same. Picked them both up during one of those โ€œeveryone says itโ€™s amazing so it must beโ€ phases, played like 30 minutes, bounced off hard, and then just watched patches pile up year after year. At this point theyโ€™re like relics of bad impulse buys in my library, sitting next to stuff like Hades and Slay the Spire that I *actually* enjoy.

>game doesnt sell due to bad luck
biggest cope I've ever seen
a game doesn't sell because it has no marketing or is downright bad
Dead Cells sold a lot thanks to marketing but holy shit it fucking sucks and the core idea behind is probably the most retarded one I've ever seen on par with pairing deck builders with every genre
