That thing had a ton of custom hardware for its time-OLED screen (on the original), rear touchpad, proprietary cartridges, and its own damn memory cards that cost as much as gold. After that, Sony just leaned fully into generic PC-like architecture with the PS4 and PS5. No more Cell processor madness or weird ass Emotion Engine gimmicks.
