ITT reasons why pic related is NOT true

Post things that used to be standard in the industry or games as a hobby, that have disappeared off the face of the Earth
>back then
>get hyped for an announced game
>it's actually revolutionary and first of its kind and meets or even exceeds all its hype
This literally hasn't happened in over 20 years

And? Are you unable to play the games you think are good? There have been multiple games that exceeded the hype for me so maybe your hype levels are just dumb

Being justifiably hyped used to be a part of the industry/hobby, it's not anymore, hence why games as an industry/hobby aren't the best they've ever been, it's very simple actually

You are a 30+ year old millenial manchild that is incapable of taking off your nostalgia goggles. This is the only reason.

>video games have never been better
If, and only if you're a irredeemable specfag, moviegamefag or shareholder scum, then yes.
>reasons why pic related is NOT true
>Cost
Anyone should be able to get into gaming, constantly pursuing some misguided sense of "premium" just feels so inorganic
>Casuals/ normies
Ever since Wii (gameplay casual/ gimmicky)/ PS3/360 (all flash and flare, movie games just learning to crawl, stylistic visuals going away in favor of realistic to accommodate immersionfags for movie games), and worst of all, the implementation of both of internet baked in, not as a feature for consumers, but a exploitive money pit, and would eventually serve as a factor of isolation for many gamers
I think anyone should give gaming a try, but it shouldn't be for everyone. Think of it, how would live concerts or sporting events look if they appealed to antisocials, autists, etc.? I think mediums and genres need to stay in their own lanes, because becoming same-y might be beneficial for corpofucks, but its the fans that suffer

Even if that's true, you have to admit there was a huge industry wide shift that happened around 2010 or so

maybe but it's also the consumers that let them get away with it

It's crazy how RTS was one of the most popular genres and then it basically died.
