Most of my friends who bought Switch 1 don't really feel the need to get a Switch 2.

But anecdotal evidence is irrelevant and doesn’t sample trends. The S2 being sold out everywhere is a good indicator it’s selling well. Even if it was because of scalpers, scalpers wouldn’t be buying it if it didn’t sell. See the Wii U where scalpers returned their unsold Wii Us the next month causing negative sales.
