I have such a history of hating online communities, I'm starting to think I might be the problem.

ASOIAF, Mass Effect, the Souls series, Konosuba, Silent Hill, Evangelion, Hunter x Hunter, are all communities that I tried to engage with at some point and bounced back immediately because of how retarded I felt they were.

I still like those pieces of media, but I have to go out of my way to ignore their communities to do so.
