Well, despite echoing some of his criticisms, I've disagreed with his ultimate assessment of BotW, Odyssey, Dark Souls (there is a fucking story in DaS, but it doesn't get in the way of the exploration and vibes), Elden Ring, Dragon's Dogma, Silent Hill 2, etc..
Joe, despite a writer himself, seems to despise talking about them in any way that isn't a literal sequence of events.
He was completely right about about Hollow Knight being very good but too easy.

He suffers from being maximal about everything. He literally cannot boil it down. That, and I feel like his dealbreakers are oftentimes minor annoyances or truly not big deals. I can't fathom having such a rubberbanded experience with DDDA.
I went into BotW Switch 2 edition after watching his video, and while I'm annoyed at the lack of dungeons and the breakable weapons, the game does so much good that I don't think they're the silver bullets he says they are. Breakable weapons are annoying but the compendium literally tells you how to get them back later. This is to say nothing of the fact that BotW is one of the few open world games that is properly paced.
