Because there isn't a better open world RPG than Skyrim that let's you do whatever. It literally has never been topped or even attempted to.
Yes there's been a lot of great open world "RPGs" like Witcher 3 and Elden Ring but they're in reality just action adventure games. People like to dog on Bethesda but they're the only ones making these full fat proper open world RPGs even if their release was dogshit.

Actually I played it for the first time since 2012. I hated it when it came out, not sure why. A common complaint is that all you do is run through caves fighting draugr, well, that’s pretty much all you do in the games previous two games as well. Only the caves are different.

Despite combat being most of what you do it’s ass in every game.

I can't imagine anyone placing so much stock in music and atmosphere that they overlook the glaring flaws of the rest of the game and still consider Skyrim their favorite, because both Morrowind and Oblivion (even the non-remastered one) have infinitely better music and atmosphere. Skyrim is fucking drums, nonsensical chanting, and snow-covered draugr dens.

I tried getting into oblivion remaster but I was ruined by the advancements and additions of skyrim. It's a shame because I loved some of it

I've played it to exhaustion and there hasn't been a game that has surpassed it in scope since 2011. I hope wayward realms' demo later this year isn't affected by Julian's predicament, it's the only game trying to push this genre forward.
