And yet SR3 has the most active players of the entire franchise, even if you remove the ones divided between the original and the remaster. This fucking board is the ONLY place that still holds the retarded, zoomer e-celeb caliber opinion that the shallow GTA imitation that was SR1 and SR2 were the highlights of the series. SR3 is what defined the IP. It's still the most fun of the bunch, and it has the best co-op of honestly any GTA clone out there (arguably over even GTA itself, given what a fucking trainwreck of an MMO that turned into).

The sales reflect the fandom's interest, in this case. It isn't just another "big sales must mean game BAD" boogeyman that the cavemen here love to squawk about.

I liked him because he was the first Asian video game character who A: wasn't some stereotypical hacker or nerd or whatever shit we're typically relegated to, and also B: wasn't made by other Asians, especially japs in Japan. Johnny gar was proof positive that we could break out of the mold that wipipo expected us to conform to, and we could be cool. I was hoping that one day a character could make us seem normal as well, but that's yet to happen. It's been about 20 years since saint's row was released and there hasn't been a good Asian American character in video games (or movies, but that's another story) since then, and I've stopped holding my breath. Well Morgan from Prey was alright, but he's not really a character, just a blank avatar for the player.
