Terrible designs that aren’t as interesting. I sometimes see people say that Agumon isn’t “face of the brand” material like Pikachu (I highly disagree, he’s cute and simple) but Suezo is a million times worse

The monster designs are a little odd and the gameplay is mostly raising stats. They also don't really make them anymore and the one they did make was for kaiju which is a niche on its own.
I hadn't played it prior to the steam port but 2 and kaiju were pretty great. Never really played the others since the threads seemed to have lukewarm opinions on them

Just wasn't as interesting of a game. Its still fun, but its just raise monsters instead of going on a grand adventure while also raising monsters.

To be real, you only raise monsters and go on adventuring in the Digimon World games. Nearly every other monster game doesn't have raising.

Monster Rancher 2 is cool and esoteric in an interesting way but the fact that most of the monsters are locked behind ball bustingly hard and obscure challenges is lame, at the start of the game you can't really make anything except suezos and hares
