Why haven't we ditched the mouse for PC gaming?

It's literally the same way you would play with a mouse.
Now... why don't we have eye tracker controls yet?

There hasnt been a big enough improvement in technology to justify a switch. Also the ACTUAL best alternative has a price problem

He is literally wearing a wrist strap for support to not hurt his wrist. A mouse is more ergonomic.

but a mouse is superior to a stylus 99% of the time
there is way too much movement involved with a stylus that you can't fix by making the drawing surface smaller, your precision suffers greatly
good luck with any genres other than fps

eventually touchpads will just become accurate enough for gaming and be the best for everything

I think the Source engine still supports keyboard look, so you could just bind those to a key.

some people will sacrifice nothing for a competitive edge. it's all about being able to use skill as a circus trick, as opposed to just making life easier.

Yeah it's not exactly built with ergonomics in mind. You're basically hover-hand sketching for hours like you're speedrunning the Sistine Chapel. Unless your postureโ€™s perfect and youโ€™ve trained your wrist and fingers like a calligrapher monk, youโ€™re begging for carpal tunnel. At least with a mouse you can lean back and pretend your life isnโ€™t falling apart.

Is this the state of modern FPS? Surely this is the console servers, right?

That's called crosshair placement. In Valorant, you need to always aim at head level.

Drawing tablet is great for Osu where the entire play area fits within the tablet (often with direct 1:1 input too), but in shooters you get to freely spin around, and recentering with a tablet is less consistent than with the mouse because mouse loses tracking almost immediately after you pick it up while stylus keeps tracking on hover by design. Kind of the same issue as gyro, without a second stick to solve it. Tablet gaming is still valid, but it doesn't invalidate mouse, they are fairly comparable in performance and both have their benefits and drawbacks.
The real loser of PC is the keyboard.

>now instead of having 5 fingers available for multiple buttons, you sacrifice 2 just to hold the controller
>you have to either stop movement entirely if you want to use d-pad or take yet another finger away from other set of buttons to push the stick backwards with your index finger
>have to map jump to an LT, LB or L3 or even worse, your mouse
>option and assign are unreachable unless you palm the controller from the top
