It didn't shit the bed in the third game so I have to agree.

That's like the biggest complaint about DR
Anytime someone insists on the greatness of 999 or VLR, that's a redflag in my head for what kind of person I'm talking to.
With Danganronpa, I can understand someone liking those games. But Uchikoshi titles are always filled to the brim with very bland and uninteresting characters, utterly retarded and contrived twists without DR's consistent shitposty attitude, a mediocre storyline at best, and a shit ending.
The only reason this franchise has so much prestige among baby's first VN players in the west is because it was an M Rated DS game with a novel mechanic for non-VN players.
>>716010202You're such a a faggot, holy shit!
>>716010864Uchikoshi is not a good writer.
>>716010202I cam understand 999, but VLR endings sucks.
>Japan doesn’t like Zero Escape
>Doesn’t get a third entry
>Westerners push for it to be made
>ZTD happens
Japan was right. You should’ve listened.
>>716011319No, but he's still miles better than Kodaka.
Kodaka's like the Tommy Wiseau of VN garbage.
DR could be used as a crash course on how not to write anything.
>>716013472I don't see that at all.
Danganronpa is consistently written at the same level. It's a comedy series for teenagers and never makes presumptions about itself that go beyond that.
Uchikoshi's shit is written at the same level (occasionally beneath it) but with a constant pseudo-intellectual air that DR literally cannot have because DR doesn't take its grand narratives seriously.
>>716015189>you don't like Uchikoshi?>you must like [completely unrelated game not even in the same genre]If we're talking mystery VNs, Kamaitachi no Yoru 2.
>unbearable characters
>nonsensical story
>braindead cases
What's the appeal of Danganronpa?
I loved 999 but I've played Danganronpa for maybe a couple of hours and I'm just not drawn in.
