Sure, he created Final Fantasy, but after the first game, which was groundbreaking for its time, he only directed the least notable entries in the series. FFII and III are barely ever mentioned, and FFV is loved mainly for its job system, which wasn’t even his idea. Meanwhile, everything that actually made Final Fantasy iconic, the visuals, the music, the storytelling, came from people like Kitase, Ito, Nomura, Uematsu, and Amano. His big personal project? The Spirits Within, which almost bankrupted Square. But yeah, let’s pretend he was the genius behind it all.

What happens in FF7 if you save on your way out of the Mako 1 Reactor and reload? Will it save how much time you have left until the reactor blows, or will it go back to 10 minutes? I never was faced with that issue, so I'm curious if anyone else has done it.

XIV being good after almost bankrupting the company doesn't negate what anon said. Square in general lost its luster after he dipped. You can say he wasn't involved in the games and that a bunch of people followed him or what the fuck ever, but this is one correlation that I'm not letting dissenters live down. Things were better with him at the helm. Also Blue Dragon is a fun fucking game.
